Heya everyone this is my first post here ive heard lots about nurfed guild and wanted to register to the forums.
Since im an european player i wait for the eu release and i played in us ob.Of course i wanna level as fast as i can when the game releases and i think i will mostly grind from lvl20.I wonder which class grinds more efficent mage or rogue.Cause i thought it would be definetaly rogue since mages should rest after 2-3 kills. But the thing is when i look the fastest levelers are mages and i think mostly grind. What you think?
thx

It is not difficult for a mage to solo, but the downtime is not really avoidable, whereas rogues can grind much better. I think Defile can solo grind 20k+ whereas I have a hard time pulling 15k on my mage.

solo grinding on a mage is slow and tedious, lots of waiting around
unless of course you can get a friendly priest to shield and heal you as you pull 10+ mobs and AE them, then the min or so of downtime to regen your mana isnt so bad

AEing unfortunately is very difficult to repeat over and over except instances, due to slow respawns.

Once I hit around level 45 on my mage I started leveling almost exclusively via AE grinding. There's certain mobs you can do this with in several level ranges where you can kill 3-5 at a time in relative safety. (Though this tactic is extremely risky.)
I found that if I AE grinded my way through a level, and did nothing else, I would make a level in around 5 hours or less. The only levels I grinded exclusively for were in my mid 50s, and I was killing green mobs that gave me reasonably lousy xp. Not sure how much xp/hour that was or how it compared with what rogues could do, but I was the first to hit 60 on my server by a somewhat wide margin, and I did so during the runup to exams, so I couldn't exactly play 24/7 or anything.

rogues aren't nearly the grinding gods they were after the latest patch.
Many of the grindeable mobs had armor added to them, making it impossible to match the same kill rate. Also the change to first aid hurts rogues a lot, cause before you could just bandages on your way to the next mob and still get there before remorseless ran out.

I have only had experience with low levelled rogues and mages, but I guess that grinding speed does not change that much over the levels. I have levelled a 22 rogue, 20 mage and 28 priest in US open beta and I can easily say that the rogue killed the most mobs/hour because there was no downtime at all. Just do 6 seconds of first aid and your on your way again, and oftentimes you dont even need to first aid between battles.
Anyways mages can grind really badass if they team up with other classes and go mass AoE or AoE/healing. I've seen a nice video of a lvl 57 and 58 mage clearing whole of Hearthglenn in 6 minutes or so where they kill groups of 5-7 scarlets in 10 secs or so. So mage grinding speed can be really awesome. =)

its true, first aid nerf sucks for rogue grinding.
from my experience mage grinding < shadow priest grinding, because spirit tap helps alot and shadow spells seems to be better dpm than mage spells while grinding. when you reach 40 you should be extremely fast leveling because of 30-50% damage bonus to shadow spells. but i have to mention that i never tested AE grinding with mage.

Ive also played a mage till lvl22(mainly quest) and rogue till lvl20(grinding from 10 due to ratanas guide)i can tell that there is a 5-6 hours difference.I dont know if it could be faster when grinding with mage at really low lvls.
After 22 i tried to grind with my mage and its very annoying that you have to rest every 2-3 kills but i see lots of mages that grinded whole way like from about 20 to 60.So there maybe no big difference

I XP id say about 90% of the time strictly by grinding. I only quest solo or in rare occasions with the guild. I am only 50 on my rogue but i restarted after making a 45 druid ( i gave in ) The FA nerf was annoying, its still usable but does slow down a little bit. The Grind xp is alot better than questing except for the few occasions you find the multiple you can do fast. If you find the right mobs you can pull in alot of xp per hour. Im in a spot now that i easily do 40k an hour. Skystormers, best mobs EVAR!

Well usually at most theres 1-2 people there farming. i averaged 36-37 last night but there was 2 60 shamans an 2 60 rogues other than myself.
What lvl are you also? because each kill i get 300-340 xp a kill because im 50, i get good xp for them outlvling me.
Have you seen an epic drop there yet? Ive only gotten 1 Lei of Lillies :( was hoping something else would drop.
