I guess NVIDIA paid them the big bucks in hopes that gamers buy Nvidia cards.

I use ATI cards. Nvidia cards have given me trouble in the past. I've just had more luck with and been more satisfied with the quality of the ATI cards I've purchased. Go with whatever works for you.

ATI tends to have a better product (more compatible and such) Nvidia just makes getting advertising contracts a large priority. In my opinion that's to make up for a lesser product, but that's just me.

It's just you. I've seen more "ATI incompatible with X" threads on games the past year than nvidia ones, shrug.

My nvidia works fine ... I think people are just mad at how nvidia properly goes about making their money and advertising ...

I've used nvidia cards since the geforce 1 (I have a geforce 6800 GT 256MB now) and I've never had a problem with the hardware or bugs.

It's a well known fact that ATI has always had alot of problems with their drivers and game bugs. But in their defense they have improved their drivers alot in the past couple years.

Use whatever works for you, I'm loyal to NVIDIA others to ATI. Not much difference between the two of them though the new cards from nvidia do support shader model 3.0 , SLI, and directx 9c while ATI's new card doesn't, so that helped me choose.

Nvidia comes stock in more computers. ATI if more of an after Market thing. I know my computers and all my friends had or still have Nvidia.

ATI cards lag more the more people you get on the screen, For instance. If you have 15 people on a 9600 pro and 15 people on a gefoce4 you have 10% more lag with ati. In time raids of 75 people ati cards would lag and people would have to look at the ground while people with geforce 4 had no problems looking where ever. Me and rl bestfreind have same computer but video card. The the cards are basicaly the same but who made the. Nvidea > Ati. Now on single player games like Dues Ex and what not Ati can stand a chance, unless we are talking doom 3. The seem to not read some things and game crashes.

The latest ATI drivers had a lot of optimization into it called "Catalyst AI". In the past, ATI has been opengl weak. With Doom 3's release they started tackling the opengl performance after every person who bought Doom 3, bought a matching nVidia card.

The drivers are a lot better now. If you have an x800xt or a 9800xt then you're probably loving it with these latest drivers. If you have an older ATI card, 9700 and back, it's probably shit considering most of the driver updates are geared for the 9800+.

I have a P4 3.2 with a 9800xt with the Zalman heatsink on it and it has been stable in every game (I can push a solid 90-100 fps in WoW and Doom3).

Don't get ATI if:
- You use *nix
- You have a 64-bit processor, since the drivers are still in friends and family alpha.

If you have an ATI card, you should upgrade to the Catalyst 4.10
