Indal, is it worth getting the weapon Mastery in arms, Ex. the Axe or Polearm mastery. or is it not worth it since you might get an awesome sword but have axe mastery and then lose out on your 5 talent points?

if your concern is... the fact that you might get a good weapon later on

First of all. study which one you want the most.

dont use the skill points into it until you get the godliest weapon of that mastery

*thankfully theres sites like thottbot which can show you the best and makes your choice much easier/quicker*

57ud priest closed beta.

But, with expansions new weps are brought in. and you could end up with axe mastery and an awesome war hammer, or something like that. Is it still worth the 5 talent points =-?

Aren't you the same guy bitching about how it's bullshit that you don't know what racial traits will be yet? You do realize that skills and talents are going to be changed a whole lot more as the game develops than racial traits, right?

Exactly. Permanent talents is a great idea, until they patch.

If you do decide that you do want to dedicate 5 points into a weapon mastery you are going to be setting your end game weapon to whatever you decided to pick. This can possibly limit you and perhaps mess up your final character or it coudl work out extremely nice. As of right now my build is with the polearm mastery and I have the additional 5 % crit. This is in no way end game character and the only reason I do this is since I can respec at will if I get another weapon. Although for my retail character if I do choice or decide to go warrior I doubt I will limit myself to one weapon type especially polearm.

If I did decide to invest the 5 points it would either be for a mace or a axe. So far in the game there has been a obvious better chance of getting either of these weapon types from any given instance. We have yet to see raid gear so like I Said things could change.

My suggestion to you is to not dedicate 5 points into anything but maybe axe. polearms are to rare at this point and maces don't compare to the axes in game either. But in all honesty blizzard has already stated that at some point in the game you will be able to respec your character but at a cost so its up to you what you do with your character.

I think I will be specnig axes if I do go warrior though

I don't invest in weapon specs. Never know when you are going to find a better weapon of a type you aren't specd in

the only reason i can see to do so would be if when they released hero classes, it may turn out that its required for certain ones. ie, blademaster or w/e may require sword mastery
