View Full Version : Warlock build
I was wondering what a good Warlock build looks like? Thinking about playing Warlock EU Retail.
Please don't flame me for making a new post about this if it already exists, please link it instead.
Thanks in advance.

As far as im concerned any build that doesn't include dark pact is inferior, it equates to nearly infinate mana as i've said before, the affliction tree is pretty flexible with maybe a few points spent differently, perhaps getting 4 in shadow mastery instead of the 2 in improved mana drain but i like that talent for 1on1 pvp. Also the destruction tree the talent that gives you a 70% chance to channel threw hellfire and rain of fire is a must for PVE as those skills are very hard to use in pve without the interuption talent, and even tho i do play on a pvp server, pve is still a big part of the game.

This is the build I was going for when I still had my eyes locked on a warlock. However I got so many responses of trying to make a magelock that I finally got tired of the whole thing and decided to make a Troll Mage instead.
Destruction Mastery
Improved Shadow Bolt Rank 5
Aftermath Rank 5
Improved Firebolt Rank 2
Devastation Rank 5
Shadowburn Rank 1
Improved Searing Pain Rank 3
Improved Immolate Rank 5
Ruin Rank 1
Emberstorm Rank 5
Conflagrate Rank 1
Destruction Total: 33
Affliction Mastery
Suppression Rank 3
Improved Corruption Rank 5
Improved Life Tap Rank 2
Fel Concentration Rank 5
Amplify Curse Rank 1
Nightfall Rank 2
Affliction Total: 18
First of all, yes I know, the build miss the otherwise more or less mandatory 5 pts in Demonic Embrace. But just as Mosh says, we won't be the first target in large PvP groups and therefor I tried to let it be.
I've tried to combine a lock which is both good in mass raids and in smaller PvP encounters. In 1v1 fights I think Destruction really can pay off and in this build I still got Nightfall which was what I was heading for in Affliction.
I really have upgraded DPS by taking some destruction talents and would be using Searing Pain a lot. The conflagrate spell can really pay of when that allready imolated char is turning on you. And in big raids you do want to throw Immolate on people as well as Corruptioon because with these talents it have the best DPS by far.
All in all I think this build combines the best from both Affliction and Destruction and will be good in both PvP raids and 1v1, only problem is that all this is gained by losing Demonic Embrace...which I'm sure that not many would want to forfeit.
And I got a question to Mosh's battleground build, why have you taken Bane instead of Aftermath? With Nightfall the Shadowbolts will be instants anyway and I guess it's mostly then you will throw the bolts. And do remember that even tough Shadowbolt is'nt fire damage it is still affected by Aftermath and when you focus fire those priests it would really pay of to get dazes of now and then.
Because a 10% chance to daze is nothing.

Hmm, well that can offcourse depend on how you're playing the warlock or rather wich spells you use the most. Using Searing Pain to its full capacities really gives you a quite large chance of getting of a daze in every fight. And everything that slows down an opponent can be worth its weight in gold.
Really even without using Searing Pain I can't see how Bane can be better than Aftermath. But perhaps that's just me
