Just wanted to show something that might be released as a HUD im working on.

http://img123.imageshack.us/img123/2466/naaru5lr.th.gif (http://img123.imageshack.us/my.php?image=naaru5lr.gif)

for those who doesn't know what it is, i think it is the sign for the naaru (read the story about the draenei on the burning crusade website) however i dont have any confirmation of this.

i watermarked the image, not because i want to copyright the idea, but because i dont want others to steal the outlines i used time on tracing unless they ask for it politely, i have had several of my HUD graphics "abused" (not that i generally mind other people using it, but i would at least like some credit for it).

so, as far as the naaru symbol goes, i need some ideas on how to arrange it, as for what parts will be used for what in the HUD, if you got an idea, let me know.

NOTE: also, if it is the symbol of the Naaru, which in some way symbolizes the Daenei, can anyone direct me to where i can find the symbol for the bloodelves?

This was done in five minutes with a touchpad, so don't mention the excellent artwork ^^

This is just a suggestion for a basic hud, the unpainted part maybe could be the casting bar?

This second suggestion is basicly a druid version :P The red space with yellow dots is the shapeshift rage/energy bar, they change when you shapeshift and the mana stays. Don't know if it's possible at all, but I like the idea =) The casting bar suggestion here is mainly because I didn't know what else to do with that area :P

It's an idea at least, love the idea of making that image into a HUD too =)

very nice idea, however several things pop to my mind when seeing it.

Where is the enemy health?
Rogue/catform combopoints?

i prefer a kind of symetri with enemy and player in the HUD's and the top part is a solid shape, breaking it into two parts would ruin the symbol in general.
Also, keep in mind some parts can be static background elements with no specific role

hmm not real a that good texture to split up, but maybe have 2 of them standing on each side of the character,

and drenais cant get rogues or druids anyway so the combo points dont realy need to be in the texture

thats actually a very good point there, considering the draenei and all, maybe it is best, to preserve the symetri of the shape, that combopoints is best left in numbers that graphics here.

Here it is with texture added:

http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/7969/naaru6rz.th.jpg (http://img99.imageshack.us/my.php?image=naaru6rz.jpg)

ofcourse the colors will be changed to the color of the bar they represent.

and again here you see it where i colorized it.

I changed the display a bit, i choose not to add pet to it, as it then ass a 3rd health/mana display which brings the whole symetri out of order, same goes for combopoints because naaru cant choose druid nor rogue, those wont be added either (only as numbers)

the health is seperated like Loke had the idea for, only that the CP5 is part of the target health etc. etc.

i added rage color to the target mana/rage/energy bar so that you can see how it might end up looking, the color might be a bit different thou.

http://img144.imageshack.us/img144/4668/naaru25zn.th.jpg (http://img144.imageshack.us/my.php?image=naaru25zn.jpg)

also, as a casting bar would most likely break the whole idea aswell (that being that most of the texture is visible most of the time in combat since its bars the diminishes instead of a castingbar that fills and the dissapears.

i might make a texture for a casting bar to go with this, but that is still to be decided.

Very nice.
The reason there is no target info on my suggestion is that I never liked the idea about having the target's info on one side and my own on the other (too much Goldeneye on N64 maybe ^^) and because I was in a rush :P

It looks nice, not as symmetric as the "no target info" idea, but I guess most people want their target there as well :P

Btw...if Tivoli ever where to add the possibility for a druidbar on the hud...could you do the druid HUD? :D

it wouldn't be that much of a problem doing that, but it depends on what theupcoming version of the HUD has to offer.

I've struck a problem and again i turn to the members here for answers/advice...

the HUD itself is done almost, i tested it on the old Nurfed HUD version today just to see how it look in-game.

The result was nice, it looked great, but with one mayor downside that threatens me to cast this idea in the bin.

i cant see my char when its up, that is a mayor problem in PVP etc. also moving it to the right or left it seems out of place, and splitting it up does not even cross my mind.

so... suggestions? solutions? :S

your just now seeing that? whatever, my suggstion is to have it sized directly below where you character is set so that when you are zoomed out to a decent distance, the hud doesnt overlap you or the bottom of the screen.

Tried this out but it ended up a bit weird...especially since the angles are off, but that could be done properly if one wanted anyway.

http://img113.imageshack.us/img113/162/naaru3cq.th.jpg (http://img113.imageshack.us/my.php?image=naaru3cq.jpg)

As I said, it ended up a bit weird but it is possible :P

Though I kind of agree with Grogzor, maybe it's just best to make it smaller and have it under your char or something...or you can make one for you and one for the target and have one on each side :P

i will proberly go for the idea for one for player and one for target, as splitting it or in any other way destroying the symbol does not come in mind.

One slightly off topic question where do you get your textures and if you make them how?

Roath

Roath

like i said, i traced the original image and cut away the stuff that was not needed, so the colors are those from the original artwork
