Wows minimum

*****800 MHz or higher CPU
256 MB or more of RAM
32 MB 3D graphics card with hardware transform and lighting, such as GeForce 2 or better
4 GB or more of available hard drive space
DirectX® 9.0c or above
A 56k or higher modem with an Internet connection ******

My computer
****866 mghz pent 3
384 MB DDR ram
ATI radeon 9700
Enough hard drive space and direct x and on cable connection.*****

Now I haven't purchased WoW yet in light of the fact that it seemed they needed to iron wrinkles out. The wait has grown long though and Christmas is the time of presents :) .
With that said, MMORPGs in general don't list what the system requirements are for actual PvP play. What I mean by this is on my old computer DAOC's battleground zerg fights were laggy even though I met the requirements.

I didn't really know who to turn to to ask this questions since I cant post on WoW boards. So when my friend said that nurfed from mourning on Shadowbane (the server I played on ) had taken up WoW I knew you guys would probably know the inner workings of the PvP. After all the legendary reputation you took on SB was awesome.

So my question is simple how has your largescale pvp been , how do you think mine will be, and what computer are you running?

Ill be honest. 512 ram was what I had last week, I went to 1 gig of ram it is like a new game. I would say youll be really hurting when there is more then 2 enemies on the screen.

If I had to choose minimum requirements for WoW Id say:

2.0+ processer
128 meg vid card
1 Gig of Ram
High speed.

Thats basic with no fancy hardware technobabbly

i wouldnt say hurting, id say dead, youve no chance of killing anyone on that sort of ram unless their AFK, every single time your pc tries to load something into the distance its just going to own your virtual memory.

for the cost of a stick of RAM...im sure you could get the relatives to bundle u in a 512 with the game ;d

The thing is, the comp is as old as my computer knowledge. It was a comp my parents bought before I knew how to build my own. Its a Dell and with the motherboard chipset it can only hold up to 512 mb of ram. It also has to be two identical sets of 256 MB, no one slot 512s. SCREW DELL!

Currently I have basically the setup Straem mentioned (unfortunately with a 64 mb vid card) and lack hardcore only when there is a zerg. Fights of 20 or so people are fine, even with a pretty beefy system like that you're gonna get vid lag. Blizzard needs to add some options to reduce spell effects and other things that cause vid lag.

No I cant afford one right now. I dont have a job and I get one for college in a few months and that one is pretty much no money limit and custom built by yours truly. So it will be a beefy system. I might be able to rummage up the cost for another stick of ram though.

I have P4-2400, 1 Gb RAM, GF4 Ti4200. With a custom UI, game lags sometimes it seems. I planned to uprgade in January anyway when there will be some new hardware i want, so no big deal.

1 Gb RAM is recommended for any modern MMORPG IMHO. Plus generally you have a Team Speak, MIRC etc. running when you're playing MMORPGs. I brought another 512 Mb RAM just for MMORPGs (7 Shadowbane accounts including 2 warlocks on a macro yay! with 2 Gb swap file lol; but it's possible to actively level simultaneously only 3 with 1 Gb of RAM).

With your hardware, you'll lag for sure, probably even in a 5-player vs 6 monsters in instance.

Just to clarify, when you refer to lag are you talking about the time difference between the clicking of an event and when it actually goes off or the visual lag caused by too much on the screen and graphics card cant handle it? Or is it both?

talking about freezing for 10 seconds when someone comes on your screen

I play on the minimum system requirements (should change this month). I can handle all instances fine and small pvp. Anything more than 4 on each side makes things rough, more than 6 on each side and it's jsut not gonna happen. Only in pvp though, I can handle huge pulls in instances fine.

Get used to playng at 7fps though.

RAM is the alpha omega here really. You wouldn't hurt from a little bit more CPU power aswell, but upgrading to 1gb of RAM would definitly be a worthwhile investment.

I wish I could upgrade all the way up to 1 gb. I can't even find what kind of ram I use. None of the major sites (crucial or dell) has my exact computer in it. It says though for my series they can only hold up to 512 mb ram....and cpu well it is top of the line p3 so I would have to go p4 to get higher and that would probably include a new mobo and all that jazz. Dad wouldnt be up for it :)

Check your motherboard documentation.
Also, don't buy P4 for games, at this moment in games Athlon is faster by far (both processors with equal raitings and top models).
