FiOS is being rolled out very slowly for the most part. Verizon was being quite conservative throughout the duration of the Team 3D tour, only pushing it out in very upscale neighborhoods towards people who could likely afford a 30Mbps line (even though they most heavily marketed 15Mbps it seemed). Obviously in Virginia, NoVA is getting the most widespread attention.
That said, I know for a fact that they've run fiber down Staples Mill Road to at least the I-64 bridge just before the Dickens Road intersection in Richmond (I saw the terminator). So... it could be available fairly soon if they have residential plans for this area at all. The execs I dealt with up in NoVA/NYC/Boston/etc were VERY competitive, so I can see them doing it just to piss on Comcast right in their backyard so to speak in our neighborhood.
Not sure if it is worth the time, but you might try calling them or something and see what their plan is. Hell, if you do it enough and tell them lots of people in the area want it they might even run it sooner than later - who knows?

I live and Maryland and my Comcast is fine. Had it for 4-5 years now I think.
I had 1k+ pings my first 5ish months, but I got that fixed. Had to convince the problem was on their end, and they did fix it.
Now it runs at their advertised speeds, but I don't use it much anymore since I'm at school on a T3 lol....

They were running Fiber down Patterson Ave a few months ago.
the only place they have fiber near where I live is around Sacramento in areas where new homes were built. I had 8/512 in LA with roadrunner but now I'm stuck with 3/256 charter, if I lived on the other side of the freeway I'd have comcast 7/384 but they blow ;/ ughhh they wont be laying down fiber for the next few years probably the same time best buy will be opening here
