Mortal Strike changed to deal weapon damage + a flat amount (85, 110, 135, 160) instead of percentage-based damage. Additional ranks available on Warrior trainers.

Speachless... :(

Yeah man, that MS change looks terrible.

yup, thats not even funny. i dont play a warrior...but with that nerf my ambush rogue has a chance against any warrior now....the damage they deal is just dropping hugely every patch. Their changes are all for the 1h/shield wearer...so now not only are you going to have no chance of competing with 2h but your 1h ability is still sub par to everyone. Oh dear blizzard. why not just get rid of the class ?

am i wrong, or is there after the patch no reason to get a huge/slow 2hander? maybe we warriors should get some daggers and dual-wield in berserk. becoming a dps-class?

which class in horde should now want a badass 2hander?

hi Indal,
looks like i had nearly the same in mind. a build for 2hander (full arms, mortal strike) will make no sense after the next patch. do u think that a fury/berserker-build will be better than befor, or is it just "making the best of the crap" :D it would be very nice, if u can write what weapons would suit to this build.

greets from germany,

Sar

imo slam will be much better than MS after the patch, less rage, nearly the same damage.

Specing the furry tree is nice, you have execute for 10 rage (if you choose improved execute) and all the passive abdvantages, a fury spec has to offer. Will be imo (!) more fun.

Another advantage is, that you don't have to respc on lvl 60, cause fury builds are more effectiv on grinding, than MS builds.

1) AM bug not fixed
2) Blink bug not fixed
3) PvP effectiveness of Polymorph a bit screwed (5secs of drinking between polies anyone?)

*talent spec clipped*
Indal, as far as I can see here it looks as if you're going for a dual weilding berserker... is that more or less what you are looking at? Do you honestly think the 2H skill tree is that bad now?

Sar

actually it look that even Heroic-Strike is more worth than Mortal-Strike

see:

HS ( maxed ) -> 124 dmg extra
MS ( maxed ) -> 160 dmg extra

mortalstrike is instant but needs 30rage, with 3talents HS needs only 9!!! rage. something is wrong here http://www.carpassion.com/de/forum/images/smiles/buck.gif

MS applies 50% healing debuff and is still a must have if you are facing a competent enemy, just imo

For 30 rage, with all of it wasted if you miss and 31 points into the arms tree? Are you fucking mad?

Interestingly enough, even with a Dreadforge Retaliator, I'm going to be doing more damage on average with the modified mortal strike. Whether it's armor factor or something else I don't know about, my base damage + 160 is higher on average than "200%" of my weapon damage.

That being said, it's still not going to be better than the new Slam. I'll just enjoy the utility of -50% heals on an "assist" target while the Dal-Cannon drives the damage home.

My question is are we going to want to dual wield as a Fury specced Warrior or will we want to use a 2H weapon still?

Sintor
12-18-2004, 11:32 PM
That remains to be seen. I'm still wondering if their wording is crap and they're telling us what we already know, IE, your swing timer starts after you slam.

Yeah, Mortal Strike change MAY actually be a buff, dependent on one thing.

Right now, Mortal Strike takes your straight UNMODIFIED weapon damage and does 200% of it.

With my Ravager, that's an average of about 250 damage.

The new Mortal Strike, can go one of two ways. Either

a) It's UNMODIFIED weapon damage + 85/whatever damage, in which case it is a nerf since most 2handers average damage will be higher then the extra damage +x you get.

OR

b) It's Power Modified weapon damage, like Heroic Strike is, in which case that nice +100 damage you get from your Power will factor in, and our Mortal Strikes will actually do MORE damage, except for maybe the slowest weapons.

I dont think that stuff is real.. cuz i read this about warlocks

"Warlocks can no longer kill players in duels. "
I actully started laughing when i read it and kept laughing.. that just made my hour.

Sintor
12-20-2004, 12:33 AM
Uh, that's true lyon. In duels, you can only take a player down to 1 hp. There was a bug with warlocks that allowed them to actually kill the other player, sending them to the graveyard.

Poor Poor Mortal strike. Oh well its only 1 gold to respec, i just hope they dont make to many more drastic changes to a warrior. Its going to be insane to pay 125g after 4 respecs.

Firecrak
12-20-2004, 08:49 AM
It caps out at 50g per respec....and i'm already at 25g :/

I really want to know how they can justify this:

Power Word: Shield: Now usable on party members only.

With group sizes being only 5, this hurts and limits the priest for no reason at all. I really loved running by and shielding someone who was hurting. I have helped countless people in PvP thanks to this. It is a skill available on both sides and I would love to know the logic on this..:(

mortal strike is still super powerfull -50% healing is insane any target that has this on him will drop in group pvp.

yeah that priest shiled nerf is stupid.

no mage love sucky.

im not really impressed with this patch what have they been working on all this time, who knows!!?

I see only one reason for this, even as a highlvl priest it is possible to cast a Rank 1 Shield in a middle of the fight on a highlvl priest you don't like of your own faction. Thats would make the other priest unable to cast a high Rank shield on himself, cause of 'weakened soul effect '.

Maybe something like this...

Straem

Kakarot that makes sense. Or of a low level priest 'trying to help' and using shield. They should not nerf the priest like this what they need to do is add /nohelp like in DAoC.

Kakarot

yeah, i agree with you, what i don't like is the way blizz make changes, they don't ask the players for a better solution, or even discuss and test the changes, on a closed server with some experienced players. But hey, beta is over (in the US), didn't they realize...

Imo this game lives mostly of the hype people are making around WoW, don't get me wrong i like it and it is a lot fun to play, but it could be better, even with a few small changes. This has all said before, i know, hopfully it's getting better someday.

Ei
12-20-2004, 12:45 PM
THe funny thing is blizz says " We will buffthe warrior in the next patch" and almost every change nerfs the warrior .
Warrior was perfect some months ago (not over or underpowered just perfect)

Straem

I still think this is the best mmorpg to come out. It has such a high fun factor. I hope blizzard realises that nerfs kick this fun factor in the testicles making the game wheeze like someone who tried to cop a feel on an angry teenage girl.

I can't find any reason for nerfing priest shielding of non group members except for large scale pvp situations where one or two priests could run around and effectively shield everyone in a pvp raid... but even that to me seems to be a 'tactical advantage' to having priests along and not some sort of unfair advantage.

I just can't see why they feel the need to remove shielding when they already put the 'weakened soul effect' in there during beta to counteract the constant recasting of shields.

This will be a very unpopular change, that I believe is more reactionary on the developers part than proactive. As Straem says, there are better options they could add to prevent people from casting shield and giving a low level weakened soul effect if they wanted rather than just removing it all together.

I can't comment on the warrior changes, other than to say their constant "awesome" changes to them have been a serious disappointment. To a priest, the warrior is our main bread and butter class and to see them become any less effective is always cause for unhappiness to priests. I foresee more dying on the horizon! =P

A shaman can not run past a fellow horde, drop a totem buff, and have it help that person. Shamans are the spiritual leaders of the horde.

A paladin can not run past a fellow alliance, drop an aura, and have it help that person. Paladins are the spiritual wang of the alliance. =p

Priests are generic, in that both sides have them.

Perhaps though, this new limitation is based on those 2 classes? Why would a healer (don't get me wrong I love getting PW:Shield) be able to run past an offer a divine (?) blessing, when a spiritual leader can not?

Hrm... yeah that still doesn't make sense... Priests should still be able to.

Maybe they are just trying to break it down into a 5 person dynamic to prepare more for pvp?

If you look at this patch in general though, it seems to be more geared towards player death in general. (PvE wise)

Strange patch, even though I like most of it.
