cool, installing..
btw, what server are you guys on? I don't want to play alone :(
Just about everyone plays on Emerald... that's the US server, probably the most popular I'd suppose
Started playing this last week and now I am in love with it.

what's with the different factions?
can I have one character on each side on the same server?
patching up is taking forever =/ (atleast it works though)

Very tempting to load this back up.......wonder how it's been since I played it way back in Beta. It was a tad frustrating, but man when you got into a base stealth with your buddy and laid a bunch of detonation mines to the resource while he hacked it....to see a surge of people run in, while you click the button to turn them into red mist....then disappear to walk out only to run into some battle rank 1 newbie running around which you of course shank with a knife.
Yeah, I might load the game back up :)

Well went a round of it last night for about 4 hours.....there's still some issues with the game and definately not a longevity thing (hey it's free!), but I definately had my moment last night.
We had just lost the base to the NC and people were trying to take it with no avail...until Sand the ninja appeared! :) I stealthed in and made it to the command room where only one lowbie was guarding. I quickly knifed him to death and started taking over the base - after it began I ran out of the control room to place some needed mines around the door. It handled the first 3-4 noobs until someone figured it out and destroyed them with a grenade but alas, I had my own grenades :) After a few minutes of this and getting some back-up, we quickly died to a bad decision to stay on the roof as a spray of rockets from aircraft raped us silly. I lived with 1hp (go stealth!) and was about to leave when I saw one guy walk in.....he was a hacker and began trying to reverse the process I had done. That moment when I shanked him with my humming knife and the base became ours seconds later, I smiled IRL :)
So yeah, entertaining but just a stall for a real game.

Take the tutorials that appear when you make your character. It helps you understand the game a little better. It's confusing if you just go in and try to take in everything at once.
I'll try to give a quick rundown however for anyone else that is interested.
When you start off you'll be in your sanctuary's spawning room. In front of you will be some equipment terminals. These allow you to buy weapons/armor/grenades/support equipment/and ammo. When you start off however, all you have is the basic weapons (which suck). Find the exit to the building you are in, and walk around to the side (You should see 3 big doors next to each other). These doors lead to the VR Training Room which allows you to test every weapon/vehicle in the game (that you can use on your faction of course).
Test every weapon/armor/vehicle. Once you've used all the vehicles, take any vehicle to the middle of the VR Island to find the Aircraft Terminal (if you look at the map you'll see a little red/blue/purple (depending on faction) rectangle near the middle of the island, due west from where you started.) Go there and test the air vehicles.
Doing this gets you a good amount of experience. If you looked at every single weapon, vehicle, and aircraft, you should be near BR 4 (this all takes approx 30-45 mins). Exit the VR area by stepping into any blue beam that you will find around. You'll respawn back in the sanctuary. Exit the building you're in and walk outside. You'll see a giagantic building in the middle of all the other buildings. Go in there, and find the Certification Terminal. The Cert. Terminal allows you to buy certifications which give you access to more advanced weapons/vehicles. You only have a certain amount of Certs. so choose wisely. You can always respec whenever you wish for the first 7 days, then you can only forget 1 cert per 6 hours.
Once you have the certs you want, go to the equipment terminal and load up on all your new weapons/armor. Once you have a setup you like, click FAVORITES on the Equipment Terminal screen and SAVE your setup. Now whenever you die, walk to the equipment terminal and press the number you saved it as and it will automatically equip you with that setup. You can have up to 10 favorites.
Now you're ready to go fight. You can either use the Instant Action function (Press Escape and click Instant Action), you can use a vehicle that you may be able to drive to take right to the action, or you can use the HART. If you're still in the Certification Terminal area, then you are in the HART building. The HART lets you drop just about anywhere in the world (some restrictions apply, such as you can't drop into a continent that an enemy has locked down. You can tell if it's locked down by if it is a color.)
That about sums up the basics to prepare you and teach you how to use different weapons and stuff. If you have any more questions post here and I will try to help you as best as I can. Good luck!! :)

Nothin better than owning shit up in a Magrider or mowing down a bunch of noobs with an MCG. :D
<3'd my mcg.
I'm inclined to agree, the MCG was ownage, only HA that could drop a max reletively easily with AP ammo and still cut down agiles and rexos with ease.
Weak
Ugh I never used AP ammo. 2-3 deci's and bye bye Max.
Planetside was such a great idea, too bad it was made by sony. =\
Hopefully World of Starcraft will be an MMOFPS :O
