what professions did you guys take? I'm either thinking of going alchemy/herbalism for my own, or herbalism / mining to make money.

Skinning/tailoring is better if u want to make money ! imo
Id do Leatherworking /skinning or Alch/herb

First aide because it kicks.

If I had to go another root, would have been Herb/Alch because of the healing potions.

Actuall, FA is a skill. Tailoring, skinning, Leatherworking, etc are proffessions.
