Advantages of Quel'Serrar
- +12 stamina
- Faster
- Proc that gives an average of +7.5 defense and 150 armor during fights. (+7.5 defense = 0.3% parry and dodge

Advantages of Maladath
- 3.9 DPS more
- Adds 0.16% to hit and 0.16% to crit (From the +4 swords skill)
- Adds 1% chance to parry

What changes when equipping Maladath:
- You loose 120 hp
- You have a slower attack speed (0.2 seconds longer between attacks = one less attack per 10 seconds)
- You loose 0.3% dodge
- You loose 150 armor
- You gain 0.7% parry
- You gain 0.16% to hit and to crit
- You gain 3.9 DPS

This is the info I've found about +Sword Skills, does this info/stats count for warriors, cause if it only gives you 0.16% more chance to hit, its obviously not a tanking weapon.

I find the importance of BWL is alot about aggro, but the hardest part is to keep the tanks alive.

Any thoughs?

Take the raptor sword of zg for tanking its not that hard to get + >>> quel serras 8)
Maladath is simply too slow for tanking same for quel serras at certain mobs imo.

Deathbringer is probally the worst tanking weapon in the game.


The most important stat on a tanking weapon is the speed of it and 2.0 seems to be the popular limit before a waepon is determined bad for tanking.

deathbringer is a terrible tank weapon (i have one)...too slow, no stats, and a 5% or lower proc rate.

i wouldnt waste dkp on maldath...no stam

i have quel and bloodlords defender, i use them both in certain situations. 1.9 vs 2.0 speed is hardly a diff

As an Orc Warrior, the weapon I want for tanking is

Add a +5 axes with the racial bonus that orcs have and this beats Bloodlord's defender hands down.

Overall increase with the +15 strength added on is 53.3 DPS. Agility and +defense add nice bonuses and lose of 60 hp isnt too damaging and the loss of 80 armor is practically nothing.

Quel is nice, yet extraordinarily time consuming or expensive to get.
Maladeth is only a 10% drop.

Once the gates open, and people will be running RAQ whenever they can to get the class books, the sickle of unyielding strength will be the easiest tanking weapon to aquire.


Really too bad it looks like crap though.

uh yeah, 2.1 too slow.....

i dont know your wow, but in my copy, 2.1 is a rather fast weapon.

and i tank with barbarous blade, whenever i can. (for boss fights i whip out my silent fang)

A 1.9 speed weapon vs a 2.1 speed.

So, you think that the .2 speed makes up for 5.1 dps, and 6 agility, and the +5 axe spec. Well okay, I dont.

ZG running will fall to the wayside one RAQ (AQ20) opens up. The weapons in ZG are marginally better then MC in some case, but AQ20 has the class books. Every single person and their mother wants those books, so getting the mats for the quest requirements will be easy.

Naturally, they are dumbing down ZG next patch, which could bring it to pug status, but we shall see.

I hate ZG, running it in my guild causes too much drama.

Actually no. Of course there are some damage spikes, but especially with the tf debuff the normal boss attack is really weak. For example, i have the zg def trinket and everytime i use it, the cooldown expires instead of the charges. Nef had 3 hits or sth in these 20 seconds, even Chromaggus had one time just 4-5 (no frenzy ofc), so you dont have always enough rage (especially Broodlord, where u dont tank all the time). Of course there are Mobs like Vael and Firemaw (Fire gear = more melee dmg), but in the overall tanking you have sometimes kinda a lack of rage.

with all the rage-burning block/revenge/sunder/hs/stance-changing i even have to use berserker rage sometimes. the better your gear the less rage you get. if you NEED a fast weapon to hold aggro you better lern to play first ;)

i'm getting maladath if it drops, fury warr, and i think i'll use it for tanking, tho i can't say yet if the stam/speed will talk against it :P
