Our guild is having a lot of problems downing Nefarion. I've watched 2 videos and we've tried to replicate but can't. Mostly every is in there full Teir1 epic sets and with some Teir2.

Our problem is Phase 1 and getting into Phase 2 with no casualities. Usually we lose about 5-10 from the first time, being a tank, healer and a mage usually. Usually when Nef lands we have no idea where to go and he wipes half the raid somehow. Last night's repair bill was massive.

Didn't realize there was a Nefarion in this game :?
If you don't feel confident going into p2 with 5-10 dead, don't. If you see a few people dead, just wipe it. No point waiting 15 more minutes then you have to.

Having downed him no more than a couple weeks ago, I have a couple suggestions.

1. Farm a bit for your first kill. Phase 1 (which is the hardest part) is all about DPS. A few mongoose pots and some wizard oils will lighten the load a bit.

2. Practice positions for phase2 while buffing, people need to get it down before you actually get to phase 2 again. You don't have to use the same positions as a guide, just pick some and go with them, and make sure everyone are clear on where they're going.

3. If you're worrying about repaircosts, you might want to head down to Molten Bore.

Finally, what strategy are you using for spawns? We use a pure assisttrain/focusfire strat with little to no AEing going on, and it generally works very well for us when people are on the ball.

phase 1 depends on what brood you have, some combinations are really hard, others are slightly easier.

phase 2 is about evry class knowing what to do when their class calls (and your MT rotating on the rogue call).

phase 2 is also about the maintank dodging fears or the offtank taking em. really important! cuz you dont wanna have your raid flamed by nef :)

phase 3 = aoe skellies and then kill nef to clam your lewtz :D

I think the best piece of advise would be:

Don't suck.

Nefarian = Easier than Onyxia.

PS: You don't know me.

PPS: Sorry that was harsh. The secret to beating Nef is to have a good main tank, a good offtank, and make sure every single person knows all the class calls. Honestly though, Phase 1 is the only tricky part about this fight. Phase 2 is tricky for the tanks, Phase 3 is easy (use sapper charges if you want to have a little fun).

PPPS: Don't suck

When you say class call, you mean the buffs he gets when it happens? Where is a good place to stand where we dont get owned?

You know where he swoops into you guys like a mofo on crack? Get your MT to run straight through him and tank him with his back facing the balcony. All healers, dps, and stuffs on the right side of him, 1 or 2 offtanks alternating zerk rage on the left side. The fight is stressful on the healers and main tank... it's cake for everyone else.

Once you get it figured out... Transitions and positioning. There is only 1 thing to say about the encounter..............

Since phase 1 is the problem you might wanner say what tactic you use?

depends on what color spawns you get

The tactic we've been using so far is the warriors go in and battle shout, and for the first bunch we use focused dps on targets. We have our MT in CTRaid setup to assist the hunters and just nuke away. When a whole bunch of hte little guys come out we bunch them up and AoE, but usually after a while they break out and wreak havoc. Or some of them will get out and kill a squishy, or one of the tanks will drop.

I didn' treally notice the colours before, I'll have to have a better look at what each one does.

In our 3 kills we have used a split raid tactic half the raid at each door. 1 door with warriors rogue hunters ect other door with casters. 3 warriors atleast at each door and just dps everything to hell warriors using 2h ect and rogues/hunters taking out the chromatic spawns. Now i dont remmeber a great deal about the colors other then ofc we try and balanced the sides blue (mana burn) = melee half ofc stuff like that.

We tried the aoe tactic but had the same problem as you at some point we just lose the adds and they go kill ppl.

So my advice to you is find out what your colors does and how to dived the raid the best (half at each door ofc) and just go full dps. Know i might have missed some stuff since i aint the raid leader or anything and my remmery for the colors sucks :P
