Hey evyerone I'm looking for some advice. I want to heal in pvp on alliance side Mal'ganis. Used to have horde priest, loved it, followed friends to mal'ganis. I got a mage to 60 and its fun but I miss being the healer. There is also a noticeable lack of pvp healers in groups I get into. So I want to roll a priest but I have some worries. I like the idea of the armor build and was moving in that direction on my horde priest before the move. The horde on mal'ganis have some pretty good gear and shitloads of warriors/rogues/shaman/hunters. Now the problem is making a viable armor priest on alliance side. I'd go dwarf for fear ward and stoneform. But could I make it work? With shaman purging off my buffs constantly is it even viable? is there a way around purge? Or should I just roll the paladin. I would have loads of armor and the 12s bubble, but I'd loose shield, fear, regen and have the slow 2.5s heal. Gearing up wouldn't be a problem as a good deal of MC gear goes to alts. This character is a healer first so if I did roll a paladin it would be more of a healer/blessings/cleanse bot than an attempt at a rounded dps/healer type. This can prove to be a hurdle too considering the smaller mana pool that a paladin had in comparison to a priest. Any opinions? How would you make a pvp healing priest on alliance?

personally, i love healing paladins. (i don't know what they should do if not healing eiter). You have lots of armor, the bubble, can heal and buff me with blessing of freedom or some other healers with blessing of protection. it's great to be a paladin in pvp healing. if you have a big hammer with you horde probably believes you want to make damage and in that case everyone is just ignoring you because it's pain in the ass to kill a paladin.

every horde hates healing paladins. every alliance loves them. alliance priests aren't the best for pvp healing. you don't have that much armor than horde (LOL PURGE). your casts get disruptet often (LOL EARTHSHOCK) and then theres the assist train MS'ing you to hell with your 1k armor or so w/o inner fire (remember purge?).

i'd say paladin.

A team of a paladin + a warrior can kill virtually everything if played well in my opinion. This only counts if the paladin knows what blessing to apply in what situation ect.
Another + is that they won't target you untill every cloth / mail guy is dead, so you don't have to cope with the frustration of beeing chopped to pieces :p

The only problem is that they don't have any viable "flash" heal, seeing as flash of light pretty much suck and holy light don't. So mostly you're doing 2.5(correct?) second heals which in some cases turn out to get your mate killed ;<. But if you compare the survivability of a paladin and a priest, the paladin surpasses the priest by far, and in PvP survivability as a healer is very important so I'd say a paladin is a better choice.

right now its paladin 110%, but that could change depending on how dramtically they change the priest class in 1.10

The real problem is, the aesthetic similarities that Paladins share with Warriors. You can look at both of them and they look exactly the same pre Tier 1/2 set gear besides the mana bar.

This is the main problem imo with at least 75% of Paladins coming up identically geared and identically playing like warriors. Almost every Paladin out there has the wrong mindset when they take their first step in PvP.

It sucks, really, and it's a tragic loss for Alliance PvP.

Pal/Priest through capability or what actually ever happens?

Atm Priest because he wears cloth, looks like your heal bitch and the name obviously suggests the same.

Is that the one that gives me the giant, blinking rotating ring around my body screaming out to be purged?

As a priest in PvP on the alliance side, you can forget about having buffs. Unless you have insane gear, you're dead in less than three seconds if more than one horde targets you. If you plan on keeping people alive, the basic routine would be to let them run ahead, engage, and then you oh-so-slowly creep up to start spamming flash heals, praying to god that you don't get sighted. If you do, you get charged/earthshocked/cheap shotted, and your best hope is to spam shield so that you might survive for an extra second as soon as the stun ends. In that second, you'll get to press your fear button, only to see it either bug out, or watch five people run away and instantly click their trinket to return to getting the easiest honorable kill of a lifetime. The ONLY way I'd play a healing priest over a paladin in PvP is if, in fact, I had a paladin partner to cast blessing of protection on me so I could heal without getting 2-shotted. I won't be planning on a whole lot of PvP until 1.10, and even then, I doubt Blizzard will give priests the tools they need to do what they were made for.

Play the paladin, and rejoice as horde pass you by, virtually ignoring you and wasting their attacks on warriors or other DPS classes that you can infinitely heal and protect, all the while racking up tons of honor.

Just my opinion, of course..
