Before the redesign there was a guy in here that was posting about starting a Hunter based guild/something. Just curious as to whether he got his webpage up yet, or something I can visit.
Hello Nurfed,
This is Saxony Beach/Kankure Soars, future troll hunter/UD priest. I know you guys only do invite recruiting, but I thought I'd put my name up so I'll get a chance to connect with some of you in game. At the moment I intend to play on the PVP server, if there are more then 1 then I'm not sure which. I was going to be a part of a different guild with some excellent members, but now they're not sure if they're going to play on the pvp server. If they decide not to there's a small chance I'll go with them anyways, but more likely I'll have to find a new guild. I only intend to be in guilds that are going to have access to end game content. Pvp for me is more just a recreational thing after all the raiding is over with. However, I don't think I could hold interest in a game without PVP, even though it is secondary. Not much strategy to be gleaned from PVE content, I gotta get my fix of PVP. Anyway, that's who I am, some of you may remember me from before the boards went down I think I got like 2 posts in, but can't remember what I said.

P.S. The site is Hawt! Way to go Tivoli. I especially liked the nav bar, I'm so stealing it in the near future.

The 'Hunter Dude' is Nox, and you can contact him, or Comanche or any of the other higher level Hunters ingame and they'll add you to their guild which is made up of mostly hunters and some of their non-hunter friends. He made the guild as a support network for Horde Hunters to share information and bugs/suggestions for the hunter class as it develops. It's called Running With Scissors.
Don't know if he's got a site up for it, good luck.

If Running With Scissors has a site, I sure dont know about it. Your best bet would be Comanche because Nox is notoriously AFK.

but non-hunters are welcome too right? it sounds like a good enviroment for ppl like me who are new to the mmorpg scene to start out and grow in.
Plus, from the posts here in these forums before the house cleaning he seemed like a pretty helpful/informative guy with a good additude.

Nox is a good guy. Running is really a hodgepodge of people right now. The guild's future outside of beta is... uncertain at best.
But yes, non-hunters are welcome as far as I know. I'm a Warlock for instance...

Hi. I'm still here.
The guild charter is to raise the level of gameplay and develop doctrine and strategies for hunters, and to share knowledge and come up with a collective voice about hunter issues.
I formed it mostly out of reaction to the sheer volume of bad posts mainly by ignorant high level hunters who I felt were making narrow or misinformed assertions and drawing bad conclusions about the class.
I tried to counter them myself, but I realized that my own voice no matter how loud was just going to be one voice, and that I could be wrong after all. What I decided to do was to round up the high level unguilded hunters, and all the low levels who would join me and put them together to share notes and discuss the class.
This way I have a forum to test my ideas - and at the same time spread lore and technique.
I'm still deciding about the webpage. I'll have news about that this week, possibly.

At release I'll join your guild as long as you don't mind that I may leave in the future to join an end game raiding guild. The main reason I want to play a Hunter is because blizzard keeps telling people that they'll be the best pullers in the game, and when they get to that point I want to be ready. I'd be happy to share any information I can glean about the class with your guild and guildmates. If nothing else at least we can start a chat channel. I got pretty sick of the EQ chat channels for serverwide.enchanter though to be honest. You see a lot of the same questions get asked 50 times a day, especially about new content and often times about gear that 99% of the channel doesn't have access to, but just wants to fantasize about. I'm all for helping my fellow class but sometimes it just gets repetitive and rarely do you find anyone that actually has a real question about the class.
Oh well, what with everything for Hunters being new there should be a lot of new information to share and learn for awhile anyways. Hope to see you in game Nox. Which reminds me you'll have to tell me which PVP server you're going to if there's more then 1. At release I mean.

My hope is that the hunters won't need a guild like this come release.
If it comes to pass that hunters become viable and desirable, we might even disband earlier and disperse into the other guilds to do end-game content and play 'like normal people.'

Well, seeing as how most end game content style guilds require a modicum of play time with their members, I am going to be either freelance till lvl 60ish or in a guild that I can relate to the members and they won't be terribly dissapointed if I left once I am recruited by an end game guild. So if RWS is in for release there's no reason not to have it unless you've established what other guild you're going to be in. At least for players like myself that need to grind up and haven't been in beta/pvp server for beta and need to establish a reputation with the community.
Don't know if that would apply to you, however, especially if as you say, the Hunters get in to normal class roles before beta is over and you find a guild pre-release.

Well, the charter and the focus of the guild do limit it somewhat. It has a purpose which it is fulfilling.
I should also point out that I've designed the guild from inception not to need me as the figurehead. There are several people who are the equivalent of guildmasters who do the normal guild administration duties.
So regardless of my plans, someone else may take RWS into final. There are several worthy people who could lead it as well (or badly depending on who you talk to) as I do.

Hunter's are starting to look nicer for group PVP...
Hunter's are starting to look nicer for group PVP...]
That's always been my best contribution. stealth removal, ae, ranged damage and never stopping for mana, expendable shitty tank pet to harass healers/mages, mana dot for hybs
The problem at the moment is that if a skilled opponent decides to take me out, I've really got very few tools to stop them.
Envie, fuleng and I took on a 60 warrior and priest outside of orgrimarr. My biggest contribution to the fight was harassing the priest with mana drain, and the warrior with snares until they got so pissed off that they focused on me, and the warrior wasted his time killing me while fu took out their priest.
The warrior got me, finally but he died to fu and envie. Keeping the healer out of mana, them both snared and the pet chasing the priest around biting her was enough to make them want to deal with me, which I considered a moderate success.
The idea of focusable ranged damage, root and snare being mostly mitigated by range capability and the pet gives the class some good inherent contingency. My hope at this point is that their talents bring them to bear enough that they contend with other classes.
