My guild is currently using zero-sum DKP with Nurfed DKP item prices. Recently, people keep passing on items like Magma Tempered Boot, Core Forge Greaves, Flamewalker Leggings, ect... So some of our guild members and officers suggested using upgrade system which works for all items. For example, if a warrior bought Obsidian Edge Blade, he will get Spinal Reaper for the price difference between OEB and SR. Or a priest who had Manastorm Leggings will pay the difference if he buys Pants of Prophecy. Downgrade items are free if he already has the more expensive items in that slots.

Personally I think this kind of upgrade will give some classes advantage over some others, due to the fact that there's a huge difference in points acquired. We have warriors with over 300 dkps, while the highest among paladins only has 100 dkps. That means people with loads of dkps will always get the hottest items, while some others have to wait for months.

I really need advices from guilds with experience about this problem. Any input is highly appreciated.

P/s: Sorry about my english, I'm not native english speaking.

IMO with the disenchanting for nexus crystals coming out just let someone take the stuff people don't want and hold it until next patch.

Why would that happen? The fact that you can take an item for free ONLY happens if everyone eligible for that item passed on it. If someone with higher dkp wants a downgrade item over someone else, he must pay full price.

Isn't that how upgrades already work? The cost is the higher item - the lower item.
