WoF is not retroactive?

It seems to me that the WoF is not retroactive. I was under the impression it would be. While I was in WC I was being put to sleep, I could not uise WoF to break out. Also earlier I was fighting, uhg I forget, but they were using intimidating shout on me, and I could not WoF out of that either.

Anyone had any success using WoF as a retroactive ability? Not that it changes my rogue's race if it can't be, I am just curious.

WoF is retroactive for fear only.. frankly that is enough to satisfy me.
