I know you are busy so just get around to this whenever you can and I'll appreciate it. I don't know how it goes on the horde side of things, but alliance side I get a lot of flack for not being Prot. Specced for instance runs. I always say straight away that I am not prot specced and wont be respeccing just for an instance, it's nto something I want to learn to rely on. In the end they usually stop pushing and we start the instance. I am a pretty skilled player and don't generally make mistakes (that I'm aware of anyway) but occasionally things go wrong...

I was just wondering if you could give me a brief overview of your tactics tanking instances (BRD/BRS/Strath/Scholo). Do you go 1h/shield/def stance at all or do you manage to stay 2h battle/zerk at all time? Do you have any tricks for holding aggro against the tougher pulls? One pull that is often hard for me is the Fireguard Destroyer bridge in BRD.

I know you have said in the past you have no trouble tanking these instances, and while I have made it through as main tank many times I'm always looking to improve... just hoping you might feel like sharing some insight.

sword/board and defensive stance for instances since you need to taunt. you mash taunt nonstop to hold aggro. you generally want to have rage before you pull so you can taunt. a warrior should respond to this at some point (dal or someone) but the only "trick" i can think of is if you pull a caster mob go around the corner (or wall) so they have to get LOS on you instead of nuking you nonstop.

There is a build that is a fury/protection build that is great for tanking as well as PvP supposedly. It attempts to use the defense boosts in Protection to compensate for the extra damage you take from being in berserker stance, it uses slam (highest max damage weapon) as its main attack, and when you do tank you go into defensive stance with a fast one hander and shield to help generate rage from unbridled wrath. Not sure how viable this build is, but it made sense when I read up on it. If you type in Bumraz on the beta site to see his thread you'll see his build. I think its a 34 fury, 12 protection (improved taunt, anticipation, toughness), and 5 in arms for deflection build.

Oh yeah good to see this board rolling again I was bored just reading the beta sites forums.

yeah kaiser that has been my basic routine thus far. Mostly sword/shield with the occaisional use of battle or zerk depending on the event. The only time i really run into problems is with nuke happy mages pulling aggro and sometimes just trying to find the ideal spots to pull to/from. Just wanted to hear from Indal if he had any wisdom to impart. I like his attitude as far as warriors go and know he likes to think things out and be efficient so I figure his ideas will hold water.

Most of my guildies didnt get in until after stress so they aren't quite big enough yet for the higher instances. I've been stuck with random pickup groups which never go as smoothly as they could of course.

THe fireguards suck.
They hit only with magic and somehow u dont get any rage i hate the fight @ the bridge with the two groups of three guards.
We tried to train thru but somehow they aggroed our priest i think that the train tactic doesnt work anymore i died inside the bar and normally they return.
When u have to pull caster u should try LoS pulls.
I only tanked BRD and its easier then i thought the hardest part was the elemental bridge :)

With the elementals you have to face them away from the casters, their AE is a frontal cone, and as long as you are in melee range they should melee you so you gain rage. A big help is to have a shaman with a fire resist totem down.

They are not like this anymore Tiv. The elementals AOE is a radius now :(

a radius works better for the way we do it anyway, melee fights at the opening, casters at the end of the tunnel, just inside casting range.

On Renew I was surprised to see the Elementals do have a radius splash now. Like Tiv I was used to just staying behind them.

Strats we used after finding out about the radius:

- If you have a warlock he can keep one banished.
- Rogue can blind one.
- Clear Golem Lords room and lure them in there. From there fearing the elementals and focusing on one at a time.

As a Warrior it seems like your gear really plays a HUGE part in things. Mediocre gear means your healers will be blowing alot of mana.

This indeed is a tough spot of the instance. Getting passed here is the first of the 2 zones I consider tough. The second is the Lyceum, where if you have a bad mage/Warlock, things can go horribly wrong.

I am hopeing the changes being made to warriors will change them from being a Taunt Bot. I am not sure what they are going to do as far as the changes go, but i am pretty sure blizzard is going to be moving away from the current Taunt Bot build needed for instances/group play.

Fire protection potions are nice also. They help to mitigate the initial onslaught on the tank as well.

lyceum is no big problem anymore imo !
IT can be rough with some bad torch placements

yeah when the fireguards were cone aoe I just facecd them away and took my licks hehe. I have pretty good gear, not quite uber. I am stam/str with about 5k hp and 4300 armor. Obviously for me the shaman totem is out :( but I often chug a potion before the fight. My problem the last couple times I guess has been no warlock for banish, not even a hunter for freezetrap hehe. When I try to tank all 3 alone they just do incredible damage and sometimes the priest pulls aggro even though I am spamming taunt on all 3 in succession. Tanking all 3 is what really sucks... at release my guild groups will be better but for now it is kind of a pain. I made it through that fight fine many times before but lately it has been stickin it to me. *shrug*

As for Lyc, as long as the mage has insta arcane and they all follow my lead I havent had a problem there in a long time.
