All this class talk and nothing for Paladins? I was hoping to find some good pointers on here, as I've just started a Paladin of my own. I finally felt it was time to try the healing tank when my 49 paladin refused to accept that I was quite easily convinced I could outheal his pally when he reaches 60 with my 60 priest. He refused to accept this! Yet, I've been watching his mana pool (thanks to Nurfed) and ever tracked it with Damage Meter and I only became more convinced that I could outheal a pally. Anyway, I just had to give them a try for myself.

I am loving the versatility, I have to admit; and as for the healing, well, its a completely different "style" than I am accustomed to on my priest, I'll say that. Anyway, I'm up to level 20 now and haven't spent a single talent point. I just have no clue what makes a good build for what purpose! I was curious as to some of you regulars' opinion on this matter. Got any?

Uh.. "damage" build for your way to 60 and then healinghalinghealing for instances and group pvp i'd guess. Paladins are so annoying in AB.

I think most of the people on these boards are from the Windfury faction.

I thought I smelt something foul around here... Good to know the UI is still solid! =P

Yeah, I knew this, actually, but I still thought people might have experience/opinions. No matter, its fun being quasi newb again!

Speaking of newb, I actually made an undead rogue last night. How stereotypical is that, eh? Nonetheless, one more has joined your ranks. PR server (can't remember the name) but its a start. Maybe I'll come convert and be a follower with you all! =P

ps~ I still say a priest will outheal a paladin anyday. :x

For heal per second, yes.
For sustained healing, no.
While being beat on, no.

priest is first target with literally no def against warriors, so you'll be fine. ;)

i haven't played a pally before, but looking at the talent trees, spiritual focus, illumination and divine focus from the holy tree look pretty good. i'd also try to get consecration from the retribution tree, if i made a pally. i've partied with some good pallies before who've had it. its an aoe thing and is great for taking aggro off the casters when they are doing aoe... mages will love you if you have it hehe
hope that gives you some ideas about what talents to get :) hopefully a proper lvl 60 pally will pop down his build here ^^
oh yeah, most ppl love getting blessing of kings, so if you get consecrate, you might wanna get that too.. thats if it fits in with the build you want :)

Yeah, I would agree with him on consecration being a good skill, especially since paladins don't have too many methods of getting aggro of multiple mobs off of people.

Although, if a mage has already cast one arcane explosion, the 48 damage from consecrate isn't going to be nearly enough to get aggro from that group of mobs that he just did 200+ damage to. If he doesn't frost nova and step back to let you whack them a bit, he's almost certainly dead, so you'd better go in to heal mode and hope he doesn't run oom..

Also, IMO, Blessing of Kings is for raidbot pallies, kind of makes you a little more boring..

There's really no point in giving out diff. specs for a pally while talents on test aren't finallized.

Right now, it really depends on your style, be it 2h Healer or 1h/Shield healer.

I'm playing a 2H Healer right now, cuz basically holy shield while sounding good is pretty useless while healing, cuz you have to be engaged in melee combat in order to block, meaning your target must be a hostile one, so your only "passive" defense option is building up Reckoning Bombs, which is better with a 2h.

So my spec right now is 25 Protection, 15 Retribution, 11 Holy. The magic 11 in holy is basically all you need right now, becoming uninterruptable with conc. aura, getting mana back for crit heals and having an activatable crit heal.

25 in Protection basically taking up all talents that increase armor (imp. devo, toughness) to make up for the missing shield, imp. blessing of protection/freedom, getting 3 points in improved seal of justice to get the 20 points required for reckoning and than fill up with 5/5 reckoning.

15 Points in Retribution, basically getting imp. might, 2h spec, seal of command and 4/5 vengeance.

It's a pretty solid 1on1 and group pvp spec I like to think, I might go back to a 1h shield spec in 1.9 though with the changes to seal of righteousness, because I just got a Hand of Edward the Odd on our last Zul Gurub run.
