We sincerely apologize to all players who have characters on the four servers that were taken offline yesterday for emergency maintenance. They are Archimonde, Dalaran, Khadgar, and Mal'Ganis. We understand that you are all very eager to return to your characters and we understand your frustration. We are doing everything we can to bring your servers back online. However, after careful analysis, we regret to inform our players that these four realms will need to remain offline for a period of days as we migrate them to a new database cluster. We currently estimate that the total downtime will last 1-2 days. We would prefer to take this more long-term approach rather than implement a short-term fix, as we do not want to see the problems appear again later on. We know that you were looking forward to playing World of Warcraft during the holidays and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you for your patience during this downtime and we hope to get you back online soon.

its not far from possible that they do this to make people move. However if it is true its a pretty gay idea

Fuck that. I am not restarting again. Shut it down for 2 days, i'll eat lots of turkey, watch football, and laugh at all the drama on the bnet forums.

Sucks that those servers are shutdown for a few days. But I doubt Blizzard is doing it intentionally. They know that gamers are too smart to fall for stuff like that.
In my opinion, they will be completely seperating those clusters from the other servers (giving them their own item databases, login servers etc..)

i think they are upgrading the servers as they said they would, plus i work all day wed-sat so i wont fall as far behind when they come back up =P

I prefer not to move as well. Through all of CB and OB, I'm sure there is no telling how many new characters some of us remade. I refuse to make another Rogue on a different server and have to run through all those boring UD quests again.
I'd rather relax a few days and not worry about the level grind like the rest of the guilds leaving Archimonde. I implore anyone who reads this to stick to Archimonde for at least the next few days just to see if things improve. This doesn't have to kill the dreams of Arch having the most competitive PvP community across all servers. Like the others said in this thread...spend some time with your family and take it easy for a couple days. It's not gonna kill you 8)

Well according to the post here where Tyren is answering questions about the 4 servers down issue:
http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.aspx?fn=wow-general&t=43283&s=new&tmp=1#new
They are moving the 4 servers to a new data cluster not with the others so that they can have more bandwidth and less login problems. This makes sense to me since those are the 4 heaviest servers based on first day populations.
I had a full night of sleep last night, it felt great.
Oh and Tiv, I am so going to pass you in levels.... damn you and your 2 levels you had above me for the longest time....
After Friday I will definately fall behind in leveling though. All saturday and Sunday I am moving my brother. Meh, better he have a place to live/sleep in than I have a few levels on WoW.

Since its release two and a half days ago, World of Warcraft has already seen incredible concurrency numbers across all active game servers. To keep up with the demand from our players, 47 new servers were made available, increasing the total number of servers to 88. Doubling our server capacity in such a short period of time created issues in existing servers. We immediately recognized the issues and began implementing fixes. However, some players were unable to log in and enjoy the game during this period.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and are dedicated to providing World of Warcraft players with the best play experience possible. Therefore we'll be adding a small trial-period extension for players who created accounts before or during the downtime. In the days ahead, we'll provide additional details on how the trial-period extension will be determined. As always, we appreciate your continued patience and support; we're still monitoring the servers very closely and making adjustments as needed in order to ensure that World of Warcraft continues to run smoothly for everyone playing.

Am i the onlyone who thinks the server system in WoW is lame. You dont want to play on a server whit "low pop", this is a MMORPG, you dont want to be on a single player server.
Adding 48 server that noone will play on (becous who wants to be on the new "uber low pop" servers when you can play on a medium or high pop server) wont fix anything.
This isent a Singleplayer game, they should remove servers and fix the servers they have.
Thats what i feel about it anyway O_=

I knew where the stuff was to take me up to about 20 however I didnt get game at midnight, had 'difficulties' getting on, couldnt activate til about 5pm, didnt even get to play first day because of 1600 queue, and because of lag it took me 2 hours to hit level 3.
