View Full Version : How would you fix WoW for 1.9?

Seriously, I've been talking this over with my friends and everytime we look at different patch notes or forums, everyone is always bitching about something so I thought I'd bring it to the Nurfed kitchen table and chat about it.
What would you change in 1.9? Keep in mind balance obviously and nothing super extreme (Shamans now get rockets!). But how would you fix World of Warcraft if you had a shot at the design table?
(and since this could go on forever, let's stick to the 1.9 scope. Balance fixes, paladin talent overhaul, and bg/instance/gear changes)
When I get more time, maybe I'll reply to my own thread with an idea or two :twisted:

Now now, I said keep balance in mind :P warriors dont need any buffing at all. Maybe some fixes, but half the people out there are bitching about warriors beating rogues/warlocks/blah-blah at damage/tanking/sexy-looks.

dont forget, no cooldown, 15 rage. it'll solve everything. everyone will reroll warrior instead of 50% of people. wont need healers for nefarion because he will die before you run out of 40 warriors.

Well here's a serious idea: fix racials by making them class/race specific, and not just race specific. So a troll warrior gets berserking (faster attack) on received melee crit and 3% health regeneration for the duration, while a troll mage gets berserk casting (faster casting by 5%?) when a melee or magic crit is received.

I'd shelve the whole +magic damage concept. I'd invent a new stat called "Magical Power", that's the magic equivalent of Attack Power, and than look over all spells, shuffle the numbers (generally decreasing them) but make some spells be dependant on that new stat.
Fuck.
That's a lot of work.
I'd just make MS 220% weapon damage, no cooldown, 15 rage. And evicerate weapon damage reliant :)
Remove Night elf +1% extra dodge chance and turn it into +1% extra parry chance or like the fake patch note 1.8 dude said, give night elves 5% more agi. >=)

I realize there will never be balance in the true sense of the word but you can do your fucking best at trying by removing racials from the game.

Wow, the above poster is obviously a whiny alliance who didn't check the racial benefits before picking which faction he wanted to play and is therefore also stupid.

I'd let the player choose which side his char wants to be, i.e. let there be human paladins on horde side or orc shamans on alliance side and so on.
I'd also add a quest to change your faction later on.
P.S.: This quest would be hard and tedious though.

I would fix MS, it should only do half heal on the first heal, than i would fix warrior and hunters crit rate its just too high cutting it to caster level or slightly higher 25-35% crit is just too much for warriors and hunters .. not for rogues tho, rogues crit rate is okai they anyway not that strong in group pvp imo.
I would nerf shadow priests def and fix undead priest ability, than i would buff 31 talent in holy tree to something like a holy form.
I would also nerf wof to not affecting diminish returns its so messed up, same for PvP trinket. Dispell should also just dispell one magic effect and it has now 3x manacosts, this would not affect pve only pvp and its so needed -_-
That would imo balance pvp a bit and make it more fun atm its just so lame MS focus > everything else, warriors damage even higher than rogues dmg sometimes with windfury in bwl/mc wtf ?
Coe/Cos fix will also make sure warlocks dont crit that much and whole pvp fights will be longer again, i dont get what blizzard wants wow is arcade pvp not rpg pvp ! I want longer fights no warriors 3hitting all the healers in 3instant cooldowns and i want working ccs there is no fucking cc in the game atm besides sap...

up the armor mitigation on cloth
give inivisbility to mages
give 20% chance knockback on cone of cold
give flight to mages so they grow wings and can fly around instead of using flightpaths
mages learn axe/mace/hammer/sword specs and are able to spec into warrior talent tree
let only mages be able to upgrade to hero class, and bonus +50 resist to all if they are undead.
give big open range pvp zones, non instance, with keep warfare like in classic daoc.
give a linear honor system where everyone can get rank 14 (casual players after a few years or so).
make casual items a bit better to close the gap in itemization.

Make people loose 1 HK per 2 Deaths in PvP. This way you'd have no suicide runs, you'd have groups, people won't go solo and invite healers to groups instead of single suicide running than flaming for not being healed.
Make Death matter in PvP -> Skilled Groups won't die as often -> No farming honor, by solely spending time.
Make Death only matter in BG's to make leveling easier outside of BG's (since HK's outside of BG's don't give that much honor anyways if you factor in Bonus Honor).

- buff and fix warlock (lost my pet again.. | sry out of soulshards..)
- balance horde an alliance in PvE (hi @ fear ward)
- change the look of some items for trolls (epic defiler shoulders... just nc)
- remove paladins RANGED EXECUTE
- change bloodthirst .. its useless for 2h fury warriors
- fix paladin bubble in Arathi Basin
- add cross-server-BGs
- redesign the look of tier2 sets and high-end-items like helm of endless rage, lionheart helm, stronghold gauntles ....I hate these candy colored lvl 10 models ...
and ffs add some HIGH-END 5-10 player instance with ph4t lewt.

I thought Defiler shoulders would look good on trolls? :o Atleast better on them, then Forsaken, since their pauldron size is human female/gnome size. :<
- add cross-server-BGs
imo they should make ALL instanced BGs clustered (cross-server). waiting hours (on some server) to enter a zone is redicilous. (pvp servers and normal servers should be clustered seperatly) additionally they should add non-instanced, non-clustered pvp zones without any mobs. instead some pvp targets like raiding/ defending towers, small villages, keeps and stuff like that. i miss claiming + defending keeps with my guild over days like in daoc. hell, instanced pvp only is like playing counterstrike. :evil:

Make pvp instanced zones, but don't let there be a queue.
Just let people enter until a fixed number of people is inside, and create another space where other people can enter. You could also make the zone FFA

Acually, yeah, those two caught my eye, the FFA server and FFA bg's, definitely something I'd go full time for.

Well that would be cool as well, FFA BG´s, designed for that specifically ofc so that you could have objectives to complete with a 5 man group or something.

AMEN to that. I've been waiting for one since the game released. =)
Fix NE's racial stealth ability.
Possible solutions include (not all): Longer cooldown, less effectiveness than rogue stealth, timer for how long you can stay in stealth.
It allows a class that should have no business having stealth to have a very powerful ability for free with no downside.
Fix the paladin's immunity shield in BGs.
Ok, I'm biased because I just came out of AB where 3 NE warriors charged me out of nowhere because they had the alpha strike because of stealth and a paladin bubbled himself while taking the flag.

Cross Server Battlegrounds and Death Penalties of some kind, particularly in battlegrounds. Put an end to the Alterac Valley suicide rushes and force people to play intelligently.
