Well i guess that when u create an account you enter you key and then on the status on your account it says: 1 month left or so..

ill guess its 1 month on each account that being made.. and since u only can make 1 account you only get 1 month :P

I believe Tyren said that you need a Credit Card for Security reasons regardless of if it's the month free, game card or whatever.

It will kind of depend on the payment plan you decide to participate in. One the 30 days is over the credit card # will be billed. Either the 14.99 for that one month - or the accumulation of 13.99 for 3 months or 12.99 for 6 months.

It's just a period of time for people like myself who did not play in any ALPHA or BETA to get a feel for the game without being charged ( aside from the base price ) and cancel their subscription if need be.

well if we gotta use the CC for security reasons, will they keep charging each months on the CC# given.?

Incorrect.

You MUST use a CC to activate your 1 month free IF you do NOT have a gamecard. This is pretty much a standard for all MMO that charge (as far as I have seen).

If you have a Game Card, you do NOT need a Credit Card. Enoyis made a crappy post saying you did, then he checked (duh) and was informed that there was NO need for a credit card if you have a game card. Game cards are for people who would rather not use their credit card on the internet, or who simply don't have a credit card. It would be utterly pointless for gamecards if you had to use a CC to active them. (Credit card not crowd control :P)

Thank you for clearing that up Rjah. I was thinking to myself this whole time "Then what the hell is the point of a Game Card?"

So i gotta buy a gamecard to get a month free, where is the "freeness" in this?

I understand your point of view exactly. As far as I understand it from Blizzard's point of view they want to have a way to track their users. I guess CD key isn't enough, and the serial on the gamecard they figure will be better... Honestly I am as confused as you are bro. I mean what happens if you buy a gamecard for cash? Then how the hell do they track it? Bleah it makes little sense to me, maybe someone else can explain it for you. Sorry man =/

edit: As an aside I could be wrong about needing a gamecard to activate your first free month, but then again I might be right. Games like CoH made you get a game card to register that first free month. Bleah, maybe just get the game and try to register without a gamecard. =/

Well the only logic conclusion for the gamecard users would be that they get one free in the WoW box when they first buy it. It would make alot more sense. IMO

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHRRRRRRRRRRRRR GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!

I forgot the regular edition didn't have the game on one DvD only the collector's edition does. So now I have 4 installation cds... uhg. oh well

As an aside, and the reason that brought me to understand this 4 cd dilemma, there is NO gamecard in the box. I know because I just looked. And if it isn't in my box, it won't be in yours.

There are 2 different kinds of cover art, and 2 kinds of boxes. Cover art = alliance or Horde. Boxes = collectors edition or normal.

I have a normal one here, there is no game card editition box. Sorry bro. Here is hoping you can activate without needing one. It is not impossible for them to allow it I am sure, just historically speaking you have needed a CC or GC to activate that free month =/

Rjah, you didn't keep your Beta Client?

Tyren had said before the Forums shut down that you could still use your Beta Client because it's the same as the Retail One, might just need to be patched.

hrm I think I found the part that requires the gamecard... but I can not be sure, in all honesty it might be best if you called that number or sent in an email... phoning generally gets better results, as email support is mostly cut and paste, so they are less likely to read your entire email.

Payment Methods
During your account creation, you must specify your method of payment. You can pay your monthly fees by credit card, with pre-paid time cards sold by Blizzard Entertainment online and in local game stores, or by other methods depending on your location.

That is the part that might require you to have a game card. As I said I am not 100% sure though, it is probably best to call that number/email for verification.

I called that number. You HAVE to have a cc in order to activate your account and have that month free, and or a game timecard. With the timecards most places do not get them until a week after the game comes out, which is retarded.

wow (not in the good sense). I am really sorry to hear that. I think that shows a lack of planning/professionalism.

Perhaps Blizzard will sell electronic Game Cards online at the time of release? I mean if you can get an e-version of one at least you could have your first freaking 'free' month on release day.

Once again sorry dudes, I didn't want to be the bearer of bad news, but I guess it is better you know now, than when you get the game and try to logon. =/

I have to head out (As in format my pc) so I am gonna be offline for a while. Good luck finding a workaround guys. Like I said maybe blizz will sell some online at release. uhg =/

well i'll be fucking damned. So basically, a customer is wasting money to get a game timecard, for a game he is not certain to buy, but to test it out, he has to pay. I mean for godsake that doesnt make any sense.

They just expect everyone to be using credit cards by now.

Not everyone wants to put their cc on the net. I have had some bad experiences with a game unfortunately (helbreathusa.com). They charged me like5 times in 3 days. I would want to avoid that, but the timecard thing needs to be addressed.

I'm not saying that everyone should be using their CC, I can understand why some people would not.

I'm just saying that MMORPGs pretty much expect people to because it's convient and is the more popular option. Game cards are pretty rare in most game stores I've been to.

Well guess i have to activate with CC and as soon as i get a timecard in hands, i cancel the "CC thing" and "re-activate" the account with the TC
