I saw some people in that other topic about stoner songs, who listened to some really sweet shit. This intrigued me...
If you have some time on your hands, list some of your favorite artists and a sick track or two.

An interested lurker,
Grunk.

i like a lot of music. older punkrock (exploited, crass, etc) crust, grind, a lot of technical deathmetal or prog stuff like opeth, nevermore, etc.
there are a thousand great bands out there, must be candid, thats most important.

I read this as: Mainstream music sucks and underground lesser known bands are always better. Correct me if I'm not seeing it right. Hater.

Not necessarily, Jay-Z, Fall Out Boy, and Operation Ivy are/were all mainstream and great. They just didn't do a song whose chorus lists fraternity letters systematically and overuse high pitched vocal effects to an annoying level like Kanye.

Olivia Tremor Control, either of their two albums.

They are like the James Joyce of indie rock... 'neopsychadelic' is a popular moniker for them but nothing fits ^^

They are like the James Joyce of indie rock...

What does that even mean? Are they sad and lonely and cry alot about being melancholy?! I thought every indie band did that! :)

so they're boring, every song has its senseless length, nobody ever listen to their music but everybody tells how great it is?

;)

But that's all high brow!

To be honest I've never read Ulysses, but Portrait and Finnegan's Wake were v. interesting. Not interesting as in 'exciting', not talking triple-X or John Grisham novel interesting.... :P I guess I mean it seems to appeal to wisdom rather than whimsy (edit: but more than that as they are Joyce'ish not in their 'goodness' (Ie im not entirely name dropping:P) but in their style/ overthrowing of traditional forms, coming back to reaffirm them, etc. Guess I could've used a number of modernist/postmod authors). Also I just wanted to say that cos it sounded so pretentious.

Pick up Black Foliage by OTC, you wont regret it... unless you have a bent against 'neo-psychadelic' styles/melody.
