View Full Version : Spirit of Redemption - Am I missing something?

A lot of templates on various boards are starting to appear with SoR trained. According to most sites it's a 318 - 360 point heal with a 343 hp over 18 seconds attached. This is a pretty small amount at high levels, yet people are picking up the skill for their end templates. Am I missing something? Is this spell like Holy Fire/Mind Flay, where it can be trained as you go up in levels? I never tried it out in Beta, so I'm left in the dark on this point.

As you levels it gets better, and usually with the templates you end up with 1 point to spend in something, so that seems to be the best choice, at 60 it's like 1100 healed, 1100 HoT.

IIRC it can be trained up.
I think the main reason it's being picked is people take 24 points in holy (improved healing, improved flash, improved PoH at the top) then want to find a place to put 1 point.
I think it's a bad place to put that one point, it fits into 1/2 improved mana burn much better IMHO.

The way I see it SoR seems to be a waste. I mean in PvP you're either in the situation where everyone beelines to you and no one else needs healing anyways, or you're relatively safe as long as you don't do anything stupid. I really don't see the use for this thing outside of raids(it heals every friendly target within it's radius, which would be nice after a killer AE).
My current build looks like this, as a Human Priestess on one of the PvP servers:
Discipline(29 points):
Unbreakable Will - 5/5
Martyrdom - 2/2
Improved Power Word: Shield - 3/3
Improved Power Word: Fortitude - 2/2
Focused Casting - 1/1
Mental Agility - 5/5
Improved Inner Fire - 3/3
Mental Strength - 5/5
Inner Focus - 1/1
Holy(22 points):
Improved Renew - 5/5
Spiritual Healing - 5/5
Subtlety - 5/5
Improved Healing - 5/5
Improved Flash Heal - 2/2
Improved Prayer of Healing - 2/2
I'm already trying to decide if it's worth taking points out of one of my current skills and get Improved Mana Burn, and now Spirit of Redemption is adding another question mark to the list.

SoR seems like the best way to finish up hitting the 25 holy requisite needed for Master Healer.

well, for starters, that's 27 disc 24 holy.
Second, subtelty in a pvp build?
Third, going that far into disc demands meditation. Lose martyrdom and focused casting, if you're being beat on you have pws, flash heal, renew, pain, and fear at your disposal with little/no inturruption. Steal two points from something else to finish it, it should be improved inner fire. Lastly I personally would move 1/3 inner fire to 1/2 mana burn but that's a style choice.

27 disc, 24 holy...not following you here.
It was either Subtlety, Inspiration, Holy Specialization or Improved Smite to bridge the gap to the fourth tier skills...none of them are really spectatcular in group play so I just grabbed one for now.
I'm sort of loathe to drop martyr/focus, as shield isn't nearly enough to slow down a lot of people before they start interrupting again, especially if they use assisted targeting. Meditiation is certainly attractive, maybe I'll see how it pans out in retail...there's always those respecs to use.

Yes, Holy Specialization. How do you justify getting Subtlety over Holy Spec. Holy Spec. can give you benefits in both PvE and PvP. Subtlety is almost useless. The only time in PvE where you need some sort of aggro reduction is when there are 2+ mobs, the tank only has threat building on one mob and you cast heal. Even then, fade will remove the threat from the priest.
In addition, how do you justify Improved Inner Fire over Improved Mana Burn? Crunch the numbers on the effectiveness of Inner Fire, even with the talents, and it is not worth it. Improved mana burn is the key for getting the one up on mana users in PvP. Whether its 1v1 or 5v5, mana burn can really throw the perverbial wrench into an opponents well-oiled PvP machine.

Holy specialization is that weak chance to get a crit.. 5% from the talent really isn't a lot. But.... i'd get 3 into there and 2 into my improved flash heal, more then likely.
Improved Mana Burn was nerfed... hard.
Improved Inner Fire, with the right talents and level, can make you about equal to a leather user in AC. :P
Btw, crimsonjade, for Sublety, I'll say this.: Temple. That's all I'll say. Temple and beyond.

I never need subtelty in the upper levels.

If you note the build, though, Tivoli, you will see that I am using it also to gain Master healer.
*considers this further*
If not master healer... that might re-arrange my build compltely. I'm going to once again debate my build. Thanks a lot :P
BUT to talk about SoR...
It's too situational. That's all I'll say.
