Part 1
WOW = Its a new gen drug... I can all ready see it, people giving up their lives for a small cubicle room, with only space for they're PC and a chare, food and water given to them through a tube plugged into they're body... and all they'll do is play mmo 24/7, they're plugged for ever... Soon ill join then with WoW... T_T, goodbye real world... ill be soon but a shell housing a disappearing soul.
Part 2
I feel that our perception of reality will change drastically in the coming years. Our views on what is real will no longer be limited by flesh and bones nor any other such characteristics for that matter, we will no longer be limited by one single body, no we shall exist in a state of existence never before experienced. Our minds will exist in many forms and phase and will go through many new changes, what was once linear will be abstract with many alternatives on perception, each their own, each their own lil world but all coexisting under a much grander but unclear picture. New laws must be forged or there will be dire consequences, what was once wrong msut be revisited, those who don't change shall be left behind or not, as no one will have a clue on anything. Yes things are going to get very hard, then again change always is, the question now remains is shall we want such a future?
Part 3
What now, what can we all expect out of life? The deed is done, and yet we feel no better... what have we done.
What is it that one should do for it to be so distanced from us, how can a soul take the life of another whit no compassion... is it that it knows an answer that we ignore, or is it simply faith's way of balancing us out?
None the less, What is done is done… its all in the past, all we can do now is hope for the best and expect the worst. But for those perils on the sea of life, I cry for you, I cry tears of blood.

All the MMORPG's fans will starve to death in a few years, broke and homeless, then this will end.

I couldn't agree more with this kernel. When I got out of highschool my friends and I started experimenting with drugs. There is over a year of my life that I have a very unclear picture of in my mind.
The one thing I remember clear as day though, is the conversation between me and my best friend, that lead to us physcially moving and leaving all of that life behind us. My friend asked me, if there was a drug that had no negative effects, was free, and never wore off, would I take it. I said no, because that is fake reality.
MMO's are an addiction for me, worse than any drug I have taken, and whats even worse is the fact that there are no negative side effects, it is practically free, and it lasts as long I can stay awake.

Hmm ya my year of drug testing were fun, care free 24/7 fun hmmm, kinda miss those days, o well but how was that a fake reality. But how was that reality fake? So not everyone might experience things the way we might of have. but is that what makes thing reality, in any case if you only have one life to live would you rather live in a crapy ass shity world or much more amusing world, which might be fake if only you knew it was ~_~, ugh i should shut up now i make no sense.

i sure do remember those crazy days arch, LOL, what i think he means by fake reality, i think its the escape of the real world, the world, that each person wish they would live in, a world of peace, well i know i was in a world where evrything just seemed right, but the reality isnt that, maybe thats what he meant by "fake reality"

I can say that my drug life lasting 4 years was probably some of the worst times of my life. Being sent to a juvenile detention center in southern utah, seriously screwed me over. Wish I could go back and change it to a point, but then again I realize that now that I have done almost every drug, I don't even need to bother with it now. There are many people who go through the whole drug state after they hit 20. I have a very addicting personality, and mmo's are a problem in my house. Once I get started and find a game I really enjoy, its hard for me to do my normal tasks.

Wow, omg , is leveling and socializing in a game not as important as your health? If so you guys really , seriously , need to go seek professional help with your addiction. If communicating and being more powerful than someone in a game is your only satisfaction in life, wow, ... what has the world come to?

Does the world you live in suck that bad? If it does, pack your bags, and just leave it behind and try to find something that floats your boat IRL.

A little excessive gaming from time to time doesn't really matter. There are extreams and then there are EXTREAMS. Like the person who commited suside in EQ from some reason or another. Or like what happened in another MMORP where someone PKed someone and that person tracked the other one down and beat him up in REAL LIFE. Now those are extream.
Just because someone wants to get a jump the 1st week of release is no big thing. I don't relize why people try to make out as such.
GET REAL. Most people do realize this is just a game.

Thats not what this is about for me. Its not so much that it is affecting my physical health, its that I would rather play in the online world than do anything else during my free time, and because of that I have created a situation for myself where I have an extremely large amount of free time.

I agree that there are people like me, who play almost non stop all the time. But I don't go so far as to affect my health or have health problems. 1. I'm in shape, 2. I hate having friends, 3. I actually do do other things SOMETIMES ;x. I just think having friends is overrated. I went through a stage with my first year of college, partying every thursday, friday, and saturday. It just gets old. Almost all of my old friends were two faced and liars, so that's why I stick with my games and computer now.

Well, if and when wow starts and people find themselves addicted to the game, there is a viable solution. Well there are a couple but the most basic one is :
Get a girlfriend and get laid 24/7!
Well that would apply to me anyway, girls > WoW
Jozen
11-22-2004, 05:40 PM
That didn't work for me Ramok.
I like the best of both worlds...
Ramok
11-22-2004, 05:41 PM
Well , hmm.
Have sex with ur girlfriend while playing WoW? :P
I think that would be caticlasmic ( i dont think i spelt that word the right way) in terms of having a new addiction oO
Jozen
11-22-2004, 05:43 PM
I think that would be very difficult and distracting. It'd be hard to pay attention to both at the same time.
Plus I know for a fact my girlfriend would never ever ever go for that. I'd probably get something sharp thrown at me if I suggested it.

Maybe if you told her,
"Babe, I'd like to spice things up with our sex life. Would you give me a BJ while I play WoW? Or if you want to play my character, I would most gladly return the favor :)"
OMG, I am bored. 1 more hour of work
Jozen

Same here, 1 hour of work.
Yeah, that'd get me killed too. Although maybe not the second option... Hmmm..

Here's another one, Have your girlfriend dress up like a night elf.
Ok, I'll just stop there, or this thread is gonna get real ugly , very soon and fast.
So, who's playing football tonight?

I actually did that whole thing once with my gf. Except with tetris. And the point was to try and beat the other persons high score, so the goal was to distract them as much as possible.
If was fun, needless to say. (and I won)
