shammys only have one smallish heal really.
they are offensive and a priest is built to heal with renews and flash heals and massive heals and buffs and stuff.

One of the biggest advantages priests have in group PvP is the ability to dispell negative buffs off of friendlies. Being able to quickly dispell sheep, seduction, root, nova, etc is a huge advantage in pvp.

I think Shaman Purge can only dispell beneficial effects from enemies.

Shamans can dispell positive buffs on enemies with Purge, not negative spells on allies. Priests can do both with their Dispell Magic spell.

It boils down to playstyle really. As someone else said, the Shaman is a much more offensive class with a lot of really cool utility spells (totems) that make them very beneficial to group tactics in PvP.
Comparing it to a priest, it's really apples and oranges. Priests have a lot of 'tricks' to defend themself and get away when necessary in PvP (ie AoE Fear, shielding, insta cast heal/dot) but the priest isn't geared for group offensive attacks the way the shaman is. I think lots of people like shamans because they are very group friendly for both PvE and PvP. A hybrid class that can fight, defend, AND heal on the side is pretty valuable in any group. They also solo very well.
Bottom line: Priest is pretty much pure defense and main healing group support (can solo and go offense with shadow specs). If you like more of the action and to melee as well as cast, then the shaman is more your style.

I trust Priests to heal me a lot more than I trust Shamans

you will rarely see a shaman heal the group and the priest taking his place, shaman will alwys remain the second healer, altough i prefer having a druid as a second healer. But shamans in group are much more useful than a druid totems and shit.
Wich perfect group would u guys consider?
I find Priest, War, Mage, Druid, Shaman , an extremely strong group as well on the offense and on the defense.
Btw for the ones who knew Devyon in Open beta, thats me.

Dispelling every lil useless things and wasting mana on it and not saving them for the haals, dispell works if you use it right for the right moments.
