View Full Version : Melee vs Caster Gear
I came from EQ, and I found this to be a major problem. As melees recieved equipment upgrades their power increased significantly, but casters power did not scale likewise.
Does anyone forsee this as a major problem in WoW aswell?

Yes, it is for the moment.
That said, Blizzard is certainly aware of it and will probably address it, since casters have already cried about it on the boards and I know I've done numerous /suggests in game.
Items like these provide hope:

Hrm. Why don't they just attach the ability to crit to a statistic like they do for melee? Then just have weapon drops that increase effectiveness of your spells by a percentage. With that mechanism in place melee and casters could both be scaled upwards.
I think it's a serious issue. I don't understand why it occurs so frequently in MMORPGs. I remember I had a magician in EQ that I played up till Velious. Finally, I realized that there wasn't anything left for me. All that was left was farming mobs for other people.
I prefer casters, but I'm leaning towards a melee for this reason only.

Intelligence is tied to crit %.
It is however, something like 1% per 100 int, which majorly sucks.
I'd like to see items which have a chance to proc an effect after casting a spell, like many melee weapons do on hits. Hell, i'd be a happy person if spell damage was tied to spirit or intelligence, or even weapon dps.

Spirit is currently utterly worthless for mages.
And not that great for Warlocks....
Somewhat useful for Priests, however.
