View Full Version : (Nurfed) Warrior key bindings...?

How are your keys bound to minimize clicking skills with your mouse? I'm trying to find a set up to be more effective in pvp, and am wondering what everybody else does. My warrior is the typical 31/20 reaper build. Thanks.

You can do a few things to reduce the number of keys needed.. I know when I played I had overpower and MS on the same key, and charge/intercept/hamstring on the same key.. made things a bit easier.

I have everything bound like this:
shift+q/w/e are my stance buttons
shift+a/s/d/f are Bloodrage, use PVP trinket, Intim Shout, Assist
shift+r is turn on/off autoattack
1-6 are all the keys i use most often,7-= are the useless the not so used skills like sweeping strikes, cleave, the 30 minute cooldowns, etc.
R is piercing howl, F is demoshout, V is battleshout, T is swap between 2h and 1h/shield.
Execute is mouse5. Thats about it.

battle:
1 overpower
2 charge
3 ms
4 rend
5 hamstring
the rest is unimportant

zerk:
1 pummel
2 intercept
3 ms
4 whirlwind
5 hamstring
6 zerk rage
the rest is unimportant

PVELOLOL
1 taunt
2 sunder
3 revenge
4 shield bash
5 ms
6 shieldblock
the rest is unimportant

Thanks for the replies. I'm currently using macros for my skills that require changing stances. I'm planning on getting out of that habit and will probably change my movement keys to e, s, d, and f as well. Wish me luck... :?

Nous

I don't like changing my movement keys because I'm far from cntrl/shift/alt than.

Alt 1/2/3 = Stances
Alt E = Intim shout <3 <3
Alt S = PvP trinket
Alt R = reck/sw/retal
Alt F = Bloodfury

F4 = Hp Standard
F5 = Frostwolf Standard
F3 = Free action pot
F2 = Really Sticky Glue
F1 = Speed pot

Cnt 1 = Assist/Mocking Blow (depends on if I'm pve'n or pvp'n)
Cnt 2 = Challenging shout
Cnt 3 = Piercing howl <3 <3
Cnt 4 = Bloodrage

Q = Main weapon
E = Weapon chained weapon
F = Tubers/healthstone
G = Pots
T = attack
C = Shield macro switch (use this almost anytime I'm being attacked unless low numbers)
` = Battleshout

Left side mouse button = Charge/Taunt/Intercept
Right side mouse button = Bow
Middle mouse = Mount

Battle
1. MS
2. Execute
3. Hamstring
4. Overpower
5. Demo
6. Rend
7. Thunderclap

Berserk
1. MS
2. Execute
3. Hamstring
4. Berserk Rage
5. Pummel
6. Whirlwind
7. Demo

PVEFTWOMGWTF
1. Ms
2. Sunder
3. Revenge
4. Heroic
5. Shield Block

Thats about it i think, maybe missed one or two things.

just on a short sidenote
i have a vertical bar next to my character where i have important skills with longer cooldowns like berserker rage and intercept (just to see the cooldown)
i also have the only spells that i click on in that bar, which are intim shout, ww, charge and disarm
saw a bar like that in a hunter movie once and just adapted it
i think it is pretty handy but dont do the same mistake like i did and get used to charge with clicking. iam used to it but the reason why it is not that good should be obvious =)

Uro, are your movement keys still w, a, s, and d? Your set up seems to be similar to mine now. I agree with Nous that using e, s, d, and f feels awkward and too far away from control, shift, and alt.

Other than weapon swap macros, does anybody actually use them to change stances? Mine right now check for the correct stances for abilities and either put me in the stance or use the ability if I'm already in it. Downside to this is that I have to use more numbers than 1-6 to fit the skills I use. Seems the most efficient way is to just shift or alt into them though.

Yup, WASD for life. ESDF just feels wrong for me, like, you have to reach for the 1 key, Shift, and Control keys... bleh. I only have 1 weapon swap macro, it switches from 2H to 1H/Shield, and back if i hit it again, and it doesnt change stances.... its way better tha way IMO. If for some reason im being focused in PVP (LOL?) i cant sword+board it while i get heals, then when theyre off me, pop back the 2H and have tons of rage to fuck people up with.

And with my setup the only things i ever have to click is skills that i rarely use (and thats just cause i dont feel like binding them :P). Theres plenty of bindability between 1-6, qzxcrfv, and combinations of alt/ctrl/shift and the aforementioned keys.

So I tried esdf for shits and giggles and felt like a retard trying to put legos together for those 3 minutes. Since I mt as little as possible (to me, pve = get better gear for pvp), I figure I'll just fuck around with stance bindings until I start winning more fights than I'm losing, and stick with that one.

Dunderdon

maybe you should stick to one keybind and get used to it much better than lerning a new one each time
wont get you far
anybody played wc3? i know so many people that just kept on using the old blizzard keybindings just because they were so used it although sometimes those keybindings where quite "fucked up"
many people use keybindings which are not "flawless" because actually it is all about using it without thinking about it

The Arc

I did mess around with a few set ups and will probably stick with one silimar to what Uro uses. WASD for movement, 1-6 the skills I use the most, and a combination of shift+ some letters for the rest. If it becomes necessary I'll use control and alt for more bindings, but at this point I think that'd be making things more complicated than they need to be.

not changing your quickbar every two weeks is the key to success ;)

I like ESDF better because it is where your fingers are if you type properly.

I thought I'd post my keys as well just to give you more ideas...

ESDF - Movement

4 - Battle stance
5 - Defensive stance
6 - Berserker stance

F1 - Intim shout
F2 - Battle shout
F3 - Demo shout
F4 - Slam
F5 - Sweeping strikes
F6 - Mocking blow
F7 - Cleave
F8 - Challenging shout

Mouse3 - weapon swap (2h/1h+shield)
ctrl+mouse3 - escape artist
Alt+ 1 - PvP trinket
Alt+` - Thorium Grenade
K - healing pot
N - Bandage

Battlestance
W - Mortal strike
Q - Sunder armor
A - Execute
Z - Blood rage
C - Hamstring
V - Overpower
B - Rend
G - Shield Bash
R - Charge
1 - Retaliation
2 - Hamstring
3 - Piercing Howl

Defensive
W - Mortal Strike
Q - Sunder armor
A - Shield block
Z - Blood rage
C - Taunt
V - Revenge
B - Rend

G - Shield bash
R - Disarm
1 - Shield Wall
2 - Hamstring
3 - Piercing Howl

Berserker
W - Mortal Strike
Q - Sunder Armor
A - Execute
Z - Blood Rage
C - Hamstring
V - Berserker Rage
B - Whirlwind
G - Pummel
R - Intercept
1 - Recklessness
2 - Hamstring
3 - Piercing howl

I also unbound keys that change the quickbars and I made my stance changes macros so that if I try to change to the stance I'm already in, then it won't do it and I won't lose the rage.

Shit, I never thought of the esdf being where you type properly, but I would frequently jack up my running around with wasd, after chatting, due to forgetting to move my hands around.

I totally need to rebind my keys also, I have just been to lazy to do it.

I use discord bars, I think I can bind keys to all my skills and hide them. aka no toolbar, something like ultima online, that way I will force myself to remember what key does what, and will not be tempted to go click on the tool bar, which i do, and sometimes fuck myself up due to clicking on a similar item.

Indalamar's setupse seems very intuitive to me, i think I will try it out, with a few modifications.

good post over all.

For the lazy Warrior ...

http://www.curse-gaming.com/mod.php?addid=1544

it's quite nice, you just mash away your Intercept button and it goes to berserker first, then intercepts. Same with shieldbash you keep hitting the button, the addon switches to your shieldconfig, shieldbashs and, if you want, goes back to 2h

I'm using bindings similar to Uro's. It took awhile to get used to, but I'm a hell of a lot more effective now.

And esdf is for crazy people.

Something I'm working on, with a goal towards not limiting mobility or making my ps2 keyboard beep.

Important PVP stuff
1-- battlestance/charge
2-- defensive stance/disarm
3-- berserker stance/intercept
Mousewheelup-- weapon swap to 2 hander, first try to overpower second ms (easy to spam on mousewheel)
Mousewheeldown-- weapon swap to sword/board or dual weild depending on if doing pvp or pve
Mouse5-- execute
Mouse6-- Pummel in berserker stance and weaponswap sword/board and shield bash in battle/defensive (I can simply switch back by scroll the mouse wheel up or down)
Z-- WOTF
X-- PVP trinket
C-- Cannibalize
4-0-- timered abilities
Shift 1-0-- tanking/pve focused stuff.

Still working on it. I'm trying to get a more seamless feel to it and I think using alt/shift/ctrl is disadvantageous in pvp.

Got bored enough to play before my account runs out again and finished my config.

Stance changing on 1-3 for ease of use.
1-- Battle Stance/Charge
/script texture,name,isActive,isCastable = GetShapeshiftFormInfo(1);if isActive then CastSpellByName("Charge(Rank 2)");else CastSpellByName("Battle Stance()");end;
Battle Stance/Charge
2--Defensive Stance/Disarm
/script texture,name,isActive,isCastable = GetShapeshiftFormInfo(2);if isActive then CastSpellByName("Disarm");else CastSpellByName("Defensive Stance()");end;
Defensive Stance/Disarm
3-- Berserker Stance/ Intercept
/script texture,name,isActive,isCastable = GetShapeshiftFormInfo(3);if isActive then CastSpellByName("Intercept(Rank 1)");else CastSpellByName("Berserker Stance()");end;
Berserker Stance/ Intercept

Mouse 5 (big side mouse button on intellimouse explorer) -- Mortal Strike
Mouse 6 ( little side button) sweeping strikes in battle, revenge in def stance, pummel in berserker
Middle 3 (middle mouse) Overpower in battle, shield block in def, whirlwind in berserker

Keyboard keys
Q-- execute in berserker and battle, taunt in defensive
E -- Hamstring in battle/berserker/shield block in def (still need to change this)
Z -- WOTF
X -- Cannibalize
Shift-E Berserker Rage
Shift 1 -- Heroic strke
Shift 2 -- revenge
Shift 3 -- cleave
5 -- battle shout
shift 5 -- demoralizing shout
6 -- int. shout
7 -- challenging shout
8 -- mocking blow
Shift-Space -- Bloodrage
Still have some finishing touches, but it works VERY seamlessly.. it works way better than my old config and doesn't make my keyboard beep or require me to stop moving at all in pvp for stance change/charge/intercept/etc.

I like Uro's shift thing, I will do that later.
