View Full Version : Purge Guild and Server Selection

With the announcement of the complete wipe, this brings up the question of which server will we (Purge) call home for retail. During Open Beta, I believe having both Nurfed and Purge on the same server gave the Horde a significant advantage.
If interested, I would like to continue this into retail. I believe the concerted efforts of our Guilds have some extremely high potential, especially in the end-game content.
If the leadership from Nurfed would like to discuss it further, please feel free to contact me through any one of several avenues:

Thanks for your time and for considering my proposal.

We are planning on the first Central PvP server, i believe that's where most all of the big PvP guilds are headed, at least that's the concensus until we have official server names ^^.

Does this include the lesser liked Guilds like DiE and such?

Gigashadow of Serpents told me that Serpents will be going central also.
Lords of Death might also be going central.
KoS may go central, not sure, though.

LOL! Sinister isn't known for their verbal tactical skills. They're pretty rough around the edges - very raw. To the unaccustomed, they come across as raunchy and boastful, but to those who know them, they are for the most part a decent bunch of players. I prefer a more subtle and professional team as I participated in enough flamewars, chest thumping and PvP forum jockeying back in the Shadowbane days to last a lifetime. I retired from that scene for the most part and now try to stick to developing a solid play skill that Nurfed is well known for.
Darph has a comprehensive and hopefully accurate list going over there for where the ++ PvP server is going to wind up for final.
See ya all on"'PvP Central!" (literally!)

My understanding it that there will initially be 2 hosting locations: CA and VA. However, I would guess it would be possible that if the demand in CST or MST was high enough, they would at least consider moving those servers into a co-location facility that's more centralized.
The silly link above won't work for me ... it's either down on my corp DNS servers aren't updated with it. I am curious who is planning on running on the first CST server.

That was my biggest worry about all these big dogs playing there. Is that it's going to be hell on earth the first couple of days as everyone attempts to race through the newbie zones.

the important thing is the people these guilds will attract. random ppl, or ppl who are new to mmorpg but have always been the hardcore guys in other games will attempt to start their mmorpg experience along side other addicts :P
we;ll likely to see 43949499 trillion ppl on central whatever.

Yeah.... that'd be me :?
Not new to MMOs that is. Just new to the whole WoW PvP scene. I've been PvPing sine I was 12 years old back in early UO. Played that game for 5+ years off and on while going to other games... AC, DAOC, AO, SB. None of them held my interest like UO's PvP did though. WoW is my mecca, the place I where all my MMO dreams are held. So far it seems to be holding up.

That's part of the fun! Only the hardiest survive, and if you do survive it, you're a better gamer because of it... that's the way PvP closed beta server was the first couple weeks. Those of us who stuck it out through the mess came out being far better players, IMO.

lol sounds about like me. Pvp on since 12, played UO for 5+ years, went to several other mmorpgs with no pvp like old school UO... :p

so central pvp= lagfest server? Unless the retail servers are vastly superior to beta ones, you won't be able to see character models in contested zones until you're 5 feet away from them.
seems like it would be more fun to just have a few strong guilds on your server and battle it out in small group pvp (20v20 max)
vs. with this many guilds, seems like it will always be grand melee, and we know who always loses in that contest-- the server.

I am a little worried about being on a central server as well. My guild (Dread Guard) will be on a central server as well because we were concerned about our members. Due to the fact that we have both east and west coast members we decided to be on a central server to "meet in the middle" so to speak. When we were testing out the central 6 server we realized that a ton of Alpha/Beta guilds were on that server as well, but as most of you have seen that server became very popular and was very laggy.... :/ Our guild would love to keep ties with our old horde Alpha/Beta Bretheren and will rejoice due to the fact that we will own the server in full force. Our guild is comprimised of all the old Forsaken guilds you have seen in alpha, (The Forsaken, Forsaken, True Forsaken, Forsaken Slayers.... damn those character locks!!!!) and we will strive as Dread Guard now and into the far future of WoW.
It was very nice seeing Purge and Nurfed on the same server as us and we hope to form a relationship with you guys in the future. If you would like to discuss anything feel free to e-mail me at.. poweredbyenergon@yahoo.com or you can use yahoo messanger there to reach me as well.

I'll be there on central with everyone else,, unguilded atm. Chances are i'll hook up with some old people from UO, seems like there's a bunch. I don't know hardly any of the guilds on that list, probably because I never took SB past the free month, and L2 and AC2 were two of the shittiest games I ever played, also never past the free month.. L2 not past beta.
Trammel ruined UO. Factions was horrible, anyone who thinks they were the epitome of PvP in UO never experienced UO's golden days.
Edit: Seeing SiN as Alliance gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside..

We have the same concerns with lag and overcrowding. We'd love to work with other experienced Guilds, but the lag on Test Server 6 seemed to be much worse than all of the others. Test Server 6 also seemed to be the most popular.
We're still discussing which way we're going to go. I'll post once we have come to a decision.

Are you referring to the golden days of Hally-Mages with Pre-casting? And hit's always start at the beginning of a swing?
I can see you use the Siege Perilious symbol as your Avatar, I take it you played there?
SP was fun, but it was super easy to work skills. I had some fun PvPing there, but all my friends were on Sonoma. So that's mostly where I PvPed.

It's impossible to know for sure, but I believe the problems with Test 6 were caused by the fact that it was the only PvP server in CST when they first went up. Not only did a whole bunch of new stress testers pick the box, but many large guilds got set up quickly and chose Test 6 because there were not other options in the timezone at the time.
I'm thinking that if the guilds who are interested in playing together pick one of the many (or several at least) PvP servers available at mid-day on the 23rd, we should be fine. I know this isn't as convenient for people getting the game at midnight (if the servers are even up then), but it seems like a small price to pay for months of enjoyment. Another option is to take EST servers into account since they're hosted in the same location anyway.
Yeah, possible lagg has scared me away from Central. I think im gonna play one of the East PvP servers. I just hope that not all the good guilds go Central. I don't wanna be stuck with a server full of first timers.

Meh we arent very well known, but Corruption will either be playing with the big boys on horde side, or picking a different server to dominate. My name will be Jubjub come retail, and ill certinly attempt to pvp with you guys (if im allowed ;P) if Corruption decides it shal go to the first central server. Cya then! (maybe)
Go mountain server... Thats where my friends will be.. seeing as how we all live in Colorado. Seems like the best choice, less lag, and real friends. Kinda sad not be be able to look at Nurfers.. :?
