View Full Version : Just wondering about Shadow Priests on instances..
Most people say Shadow Priests are worthless for ony/mc raids. But I was thinking about some stuff that could be really nice in theory. One Shadow Priest could really buff the damage done by Warlocks. After we killed some mc boss some days ago, someone on raid spammed that damage measure thing that shows the damage done by everyone. I noticed the Warlocks were up top with Mages. The total damage number made by Warlocks was really impressive. So I started thinking, what if that number were increased by 15%?
One Shadow Priest with the Shadow Weaving talent 5/5 can increase all source of shadow damage done to the target by 15%. The Shadow Priest could take a spot of a Mage, since he also is a very efficient nuker in Shadow Form by himself, plus he can dispell which is very important.
I've heard well geared Warlocks with a Shadow Mastery + Ruin build (which is a very common one), can get shadow bolt crits for almost 2k damage on a fairly constant rate. If you are critting for 2k, with Shadow Weaving that would be 2.3k
So if you happen to have about 5 Warlocks and enough healers in your raid, wouldn't it worth to have a Shadow Priest to buff they're dps?

I hope Envie responds to this.
"That" big difference is a 15%+ difference, since it is 15% of base damage it's 30% more dmg to crits, which means a total Warlock dps would be increased by 15% + ( 15% * crit chance). I don't know how high a Warlock's crit chance can get but I do know they love crit gear.

I don't know much about the debuff limits and how to work that out. I'm a Druid, my only worry is to keep ppl HoTed, decursed and that my Priest gets innervated ^^

The Shadow Priests in raids would ONLY be healing, At best you could get them to occasionally cast rank 1 Shadow Word: Pain to keep the shadow debuf going. But if they're gonna stand there and cast shadow spells, I'd much rather have a healer or a sustained DPSer - both of which a shadow priest sucks at.

shadow-priest = transform a usefull class in a sort of warlock/mage with less dps and totaly waste his real role in party/raid.
shadow-priest must be kicked out from any raid like a shaman who say : sorry i make only dmg i'm not a support class.

Shadowpriests can deal next patch very reliable sustained DPS with autoshooting wands :D
