I was wondering what talents go best with mage. I was thinking of doing primarily arcane with fire as secondary. And q you are furleng i believe so what is your advice? Oh and the qq and dal are you from IN the wc2 kali clan?

For a Fire/Arcane build i came up with this.

Arcane Talents (34 points)

# Improved Arcane Missiles - 5/5 points
Gives you a 100% chance to avoid interruption caused by damage while channeling Arcane Missiles.

# Arcane Focus - 5/5 points
Reduces the chance that the opponent can resist your arcane spells by 10%.

# Arcane Subtlety - 3/3 points
Reduces the threat generated by your offensive arcane spells by 40%.

# Improved Dampen Magic - 2/2 points
Increases the effect of your Dampen Magic spell by 50%.

# Evocation - 1/1 point
While channeling this spell, your mana regeneration is active and increased by 1500%. Lasts 8 seconds.

# Improved Arcane Explosion - 5/5 points
Reduces the casting time of your Arcane Explosion by 1.5 seconds.

# Improved Mana Shield - 2/2 points
Increases the damage absorbed by your Mana Shield by 75%.

# Improved Counterspell - 2/2 points
Gives your Counterspell a 100% chance to silence the target for 4 seconds.

# Arcane Mind - 4/4 points
Increases your maximum Mana by 8%.

# Presence of Mind - 1/1 point
When activated, your next Mage spell with a casting time less than 10 seconds becomes an instant cast spell.

# Arcane Instability - 3/3 points
Increases your spell damage and critical strike chance by 3%.

# Arcane Power - 1/1 point
When activated, your spells deal 35% more damage while costing 35% more mana to cast. This effect lasts 15 seconds.

Frost Talents (0 points)

# None

Fire Talents (16 points)

# Impact - 5/5 points
Gives your fire spells a 10% chance to stun the taget for 2 seconds.

# Improved Fireball - 5/5 points
Reduces the casting time of your Fireball by 0.5 seconds.

# Burning Soul - 3/3 points
Gives your fire spells a 65% chance to not lose casting time when you take damage.

# Incinerate - 2/2 points
Increases the critical strike chance of your Fire Blast and Scorch spells by 4%.

# Pyroblast - 1/1 point
Hurls an immense fiery boulder that causes 148 to 195 fire damage and an additional 56 damage over 12 seconds

Yep there are a few "The IN Clan" members in here.

I went mostly ICE and Arc Spec.
Fire is good for damage out put, but ICE and Arc is by far more useful in Group PvP, and that's what your going to mostly be doing after you hit 60.

I'll go take a screen shot of how I got my Taletns speced right now as Fuleng.

I'm 31/20 arc/fire... and really like it.

I've messed around with arc/frost specs -- they're a very different playstyle, and I don't have the luxury of having a guild to regularly PvP with and thus arc/fire works better for me, since I find myself soloing a lot.

I plan on going Fire for PvE and respeccing out around 45 or 50.

after all the pvping last night i would definately say ice is best for group pvp, nothing like setting off a frostnova in a group of 5 runners so your group can catch up and beat their ass. I was playing around on thottbot and i ended up putting more into ice talents than into arcane with a 31/20 build. Did you do arcane primary and ice secondary?

i think im going 31 frost or fire / 20 arc come the 23rd. I think it will depend what kind of player ya are. If ya like burst dam go with fire. Slower but more efficient go frost / arc. For utility and annoying the hell outta people , go arcan/ frost or fire .

Im prob going frost/arcane come the 23rd :) All of the frost talents seem really cool ( chill effects etc.) . This with secondary arcane talents will be my build most likely.

Hi

i am still a lvl 50 Mage, but trying to change this asap

cause of fast lvling i didnt care about "good" items, but ive a question what kind of items i should wear at lvl 60.

Until now i preferred maximum Int cause off the 5 sec manares pause after a spell, beside the arcane try gives u some possibilities to regain mana faster.

So i want to ask what highend mages do: max int or spirit or try to do a nice balance ?

hi all :D

Do you think Iceblock is better than Arcane Power?
my template looks the mainly the same, but iŽll go to Arcane Power and Improved Manashield:

Arcane Talents (33 points)
Improved Arcane Missiles - 5/5 points
Arcane Concentration - 5/5 points
Evocation - 1/1 point
Improved Arcane Explosion - 5/5 points
Arcane Meditation - 5/5 points
Improved Counterspell - 2/2 points
Improved Mana Shield - 2/2 points
Presence of Mind - 1/1 point
Arcane Mind - 3/4 points
Arcane Instability - 3/3 points
Arcane Power - 1/1 point

Frost Talents (18 points)
Improved Frostbolt - 5/5 points
Permafrost - 5/5 points
Winter's Chill - 3/3 points
Improved Blizzard - 3/3 points
Arctic Reach - 2/2 points

Maybe i should get Coldsnap, and buy Arcane Mind 2/4 only. Do you think maxing Arcane Medition is important ?

anyone tried focusing on icetallents from the start? will it slow down your killrate much? I know it will slow down your mobs much ;-)

I was thinking about this the earlier this week.
If they keep the respec ability in the game, it would be best to start out speced in Fire, because that gives you the most DPS for the early talents and the best skills for Soloing because of the Stun.

I would just spec in Fire until I got to about Lv 30-40 and then respec to ICE and Arc, because that's about the time when you start to do the more intersting Instances and where the ICE and Arc lines talents will be needed.

All that depends if the ALLOW you to respec.

Hey Q i was looking at your arcane points but how do you guys past arcane focus because without it you don't have enough points to get to arcane explosion so you can't unlock the rest of the tree. Is that just a thottbot bug and was changed ingame?

You can respec at your class trainers, but it costs more $ each time you do it. First time I believe is 1g. I've heard it goes like 1, 5, 10, 20, ... or so but not really sure.

Yes, that was for beta. But has it been comfirmed for Retail? Cause that could make a big difference for how you make your character. You'd be much more careful about choosing your talents.

I think I read a blue post stating that it is staying like that for retail. The first talent respec is cheapest at 1g. However it caps at 50g per respec if you get high enough. It shouldn't be too much of an exploit considering will all the moneysinks that there won't be a huge amount of money floating around.

Only reason that the economy was so inflated in CB's was because there were level caps. When people reached level cap they would just farm, and loot, farm and loot and so on. With everyone rushing to 60 during retail economy prices will be much lower than beta. As such, while it might've been easy for someone in beta to respec for 1g, 2g, 5g, 10g and so on, it won't be that easy in retail. Especially at 50g a pop. It just wouldn't be viable to constantly be changing specs. Unless you're super rich in game.

Because of this its pretty viable to spec for firepower in the beginning, for example mages go to pyro blast for quick pve and then respec to ice later for group pvp, or in my case shaman, i will probably go shocks first then respec later to Nature's Swiftness when i have enough points and group pvp is more commonplace in higher levels.

Ya, it was announced at the time they added that to the beta that it would be staying for retail, too.

Ok, guess I will go fire then. FIRE!
I went fire in the OB, and did not spent to much time looking at ice/arcane tree. I did specc yor arc/ice build at the thottbot tallentsimulator, but I got the same problem as Jumbled:

The same goes for the ice tree. You cant get permafrost without getting 3 points in frost channeling. Is thottbot outdated?
