It was real ... quite humorous.
They left open a hole whereby real Blizz posts could be modified by a 3rd party, which is why they all show that they were edited.

That's the issue with all their home-grown crap. If you have the talent available, you can do some cool stuff, but their ASP.NET skills leave a lot to be desired. Not only was the security poorly implemented, every time you were using the pages and got the orc scratching his head was the result of a default redirect that was initiated by an unhandled error within the application. I know I couldn't get away with that crap in my job.

right, the age old issue of performance vs security. i still see people use char** instead of a string because of some percieved "overhead" in using string. while thats a small example, there are still major issues with buffer overflow that go on to this day. honestly, the technology nowadays allows for robust coding practices so that this crap doesnt happen.

I actually knew that guy from before he pulled this stunt. Some 13 year old from GameFAQs...all I know about him is that he claimed to be in a WoW guild called 'Nordrassil Ceptilus'.
The geico thing has been a GameFAQs fad for a while.
