View Full Version : I'm done with warriors.

It's become apparent to me that blizzard has no clue how thier own game works and as such I've lost faith in thier ability to make the warrior enjoyable for me to play again. They said they are going to make it easier for defensive warriors to hold agro in the next patch, but since that is just the tip of the iceburg of problems with the class I am going to cut my losses here and let someone else worry about trying to get blizzard to fix thier problems. I have spent too much time giving them feedback and writing up solid articles detailing exactly where thier problems lie with the design of the class and also providing sound suggestions on possible ways to fix the problems, all of which go mostly unheard. The fact that Eno ignored every member of the community when they told him warrior dps was out of whack and he told everyone "I'm right you are wrong" shakes my faith in his ability to subjectively address flaws in his game's design. With all that said I am officially done with the warrior class and going to be playing a rogue for retail. Yall are still welcome to pick my brain and I'll continue to try to answer questions to the best of my knowledge but from here out I plan to spend my time learning the intricies of the Rogue class instead of the Warrior.

Don't you think Warriors are still needed Dal?
Or do you feel a rogue can do just as well now?
Ide say warriors will still be needed for sure thoe.

I think warriors will still definately be needed. Indal was just saying that the direction the class is heading is one that's not fun for him.
Having played AC2 I've gone through a crapload of these complete re-writes of classes and what they're intended to do. Eventually it does all die down and people accept that the changes are there to stay, but that doesn't mean the previous version of the class wasn't more fun still. Eventually people get tired of saying the same thing when it seems apparent that it's falling on deaf ears. But then the flip-side of the argument is that just because they decide something contrary to what you suggest, doesn't mean they didn't take your words into consideration. I can't count the times I told my parents they never listened to me growing up simply because they decided on a course of action other than that I wanted.
Now don't get me wrong, I think Indal has an excellent grasp of the warrior concept, and several innovative ways to fix flaws in it. He proposed an excellent system to allow warriors who wanted the extra rush of the old taunt-spamming style warrior, AND allow for the "easier" warrior of this patch. The fact that blizzard won't acknowledge with a simple "yes this is a good idea, we'll take it into consideration" is what bothers me so much.

The WoW release is in less than 2 weaks and I'm not sure that Blizzard can fix the unbalanced classes in so short time. Warriors always needed but nobody wants to play a warrior if it's no fun :|
I don't see how the loss of taunt makes the warrior unfun to play, you guys are starting to sound like TillermaN! Just stick with it and find a new way to hold aggro, its not as easy as before, but it's still possible and does'nt mean the class is gimped or broken.

The agro system is just one of the MANY things that they broke with warriors in the patch. I don't care enough anymore to discuss it. Short of a complete reversal of all changes made to warriors this patch, I will be playing a rogue for retail.

Ah man, the reason i wanted to be a warrior was because of inalamar's kick arse video. But now I here that alot of the warrior's skills/tallents are being nurfed. I enjoy playin the warrior atm (only level 20, so i have no idea what is instore in the future for me , a gimped out class?) but I am feel a sense of ignorance in that I have not played a warrior from closed beta with full potential. Saying this , how can I trust Blizzard in the future with any class? :(

to sum up the changes now as a warrior you now longer have much of a chance fighting ANY other class except rogues and offcourse other 'gimps in a can'. Playing on a pvp server as a class that cant stand up in pvp is not fun.

Since I wasnt in CB I feel that I am missing something.
1. Taunt spam. ok this was fun for you and probably challenging. New system makes warrior easier BUT it makes group cooperation much more important and grouping in general opposite of being "easier"
2. Warrior being owned by everyone. ok call me a noob but.. before patch once you are in combat you were helplesly kited till dead. Now intercept gives a VERY viable way of closing disance with kiter. Execute?? it plain rocks
3. MS nerf. no comment I am not high enough to even say anything here.
Last thing. Why Rogue? Now hunters are becoming much more popular, stronger class(especially with NE stealth snipers). Life of a rogue who uses stealth will soon become much harder. I am sure this is not apparent on CB servers but on the OB there are virtual hordes of new hunters being made. And again maybe I am a noob but as priest healing rogue is way harder then warriors against any type of dmg. Physical: crit overpowers drop rogue hp like a rock, magic: warrior can do shield wall to break mage assist.

All the new warriors who love the changes are the ones who wern't in CB. You are, in fact, missing many things that can only be taught in late-game. Trust the opinion of all the warriors who played CB and have a lvl 60 warrior, and not the wool that Blizzard is trying to pull over the eyes of the new warriors.
As for why Indal chose a Rogue over a Hunter...what the hell does that have to do with anything? He is done with warriors, but wants to continue playing...how can you possibly question what class he wants to play? It is personal preference.

Well first I am not a warrior, I am playing a priest atm and will probably go with one for retail or get a healing/tank paladin to reduce my squishiness.
I guess warriors start sucking at some point after 40 which me and my guild didnt reach yet.

new patch preview was posted, do you think that it fixed the problem? taunt is now free of rage cost. and they supposedly fixed defensive stance. I am still playing my warrior and am hoping it is still going to be viable and that they will stil be very good at PvP, but lately i have been getting raped by paladins and hunters.... =/ what is the future for us warriors?

They said taunt has 0 rage cost, and no global cooldown. Which means it still has 10s cooldown. "Fixed" defensive stance? They don't even understand the problem.

They dont understand what we want.
Same as the awesome changes that noone requested.
It was like we asked we some little fixes in Berserker , Def stance and now this is the result. Blizz is unable to convert our suggestions into changes so they change it in a horrible way...

I agree with Indalamar on this one, playing a warrior/paladin in closed beta and then going warrior for open beta, i realized last night while in Gnomeran dungean that the warrior is now useless...they have been brought down to a level that is more of a burdon to play. I couldn't hold any aggro in defensive stance whatsoever, and i know that they say that the new patch will bring better aggro hold for defensvie stance, it's just not going to be anything like it used to be. I did indeed had a lot of fun playing a warrior while it lasted. Most likely in retail i will also be re-rolling, but as a hunter. It's time to go back to the drawing board, it's just really dissapointing that they screwed up the warriors so bad.

The best thing anyone can do is when your friends start playing WoW come retail enlighten them to how worthless the warrior is at keeping agro. Once the new players of WoW start complaining (the ones who do not know the old system) THATS when Bliz will change the system no matter what.

It really sucks for Horde, Alliance at least has a viable alternative to the warrior in the paladin (which now holds aggro better, does way more damage, AND can heal/res). The only real drawback to the Pally versus a Warrior is that you can run out of mana. But with the rate at which Warriors can generate rage these days, that point's really moot.

It's really sad to see this post Dal. Especially after reading through the huge debacle over the last patch and all the constructive input you gave Eno that he just ignored. You made such well put together and thought out posts on the forum. It was like finding a shining jewel in a huge mound of shit on those general forums. Everyone's just screaming and ranting. I'll have to sit down and take a nice read through your 14 page write up on the Warrior when I get home and have the time.
Good luck with the Rogue class.

I thought everyone already heard but for those who haven't. I'm going to continue playing a warrior at the request of my guild (not because I enjoy them)

Do you think you'll still be able to find the joy you had in it before?
Going to play a Rogue alt as well?

They are still livable but not near as enjoyable as they once were. I'm sure Ill manage.

That's really a shame. That's the one regrettable thing about MMOs. You put some much in to a certain class just to have it totally turned on it's head and changed from you knew it to be.
What exactly did you find to be the most fun about your warrior before?
Besides of course making that Pwnage video that made my jaw drop...
