View Full Version : Release Date Info.
"Following the earlier story which appeared on the Detroit Free Press giving a date of 22nd of November, Blizzard issued the following statement.
We appreciate everyone's interest in determining when World of Warcraft will ship, but while we are rapidly approaching the open beta period and we are confident that we will meet our goal of shipping the game before the end of this year, nailing down an exact ship date is a little more complicated due to a number of factors. As soon as we have a specific date to announce, we will be excited to share the news with everyone. Please don't consider any announced release dates official until such an announcement comes from Blizzard. This is true for all announcements related to Blizzard games.
As we expected, Blizzard reiterate that no date is set in stone, if you've been following Blizzard products over the years you'll be aware that until you hear it from the horse's mouth it's not fact."
Hopefully it is correct? I definitly am looking forward to playing (Stress test was a tease)

I imagine the heads of blizzard are probably pissed at the vivendi guy making such a statement.. after all they wouldn't meet with Bill Roper and the others so they left to form flagship studios. Sense bad blood between vivendi and blizzard...
I got the information from Www.WorldOfWar.Net

I guess you never played Diablo 2? I won't be buying WoW until June 2005, at minimum.

Once Blizz puts in hunter and pally talents, racial traits/talents, the PvP reward system and BGs, the game will be ready for release. They can add more high end raid content after release since it will probably be a month or so before there are enough level 60s to do the actual raid content anyway. The next patch is looking to be HUGE with most if not all the mentioned content going in this patch. As far as stability, the servers seem to be holding up pretty well for the amount of players on it at once, there are some bugs and quirks to work out, but there will always be bugs and quirks throughout the life of the game.
IMO the game is getting pretty close to release quality and will still be better than most, if not all previous MMORPG releases. The only thing i'm worried about is account creation, if that goes through fine then it will be rock solid.

This is one of the most polished games I've played to date. Sure there is still a few buggs but it is far ahead of other games at their release. With the exception of a few Talents and PvP rewards, I thought this game was good for release, minus a few bugs that they recently caused.

Not only is it a lot more stable but there's 10x as much content as other MMORPGS I've played at release. Very few games release with both a very stable build AND loads of content, it's usually one or the other.
A lot of people are seeming to forget that in MMOs content and bug-fixing continues after release. In that manner the game is never really "finished" because stuff is constantly being worked on.

Blizzard has never been one to push a release. I meen, yes, everyone will most likely play, and love the game, even if released exactly as it is, but waiting just a little bit longer, making the game just that much sweeter...i think its worth it to all the players who will be expierencing it for the first time.
