Hi all, I played a Paladin at the end of the closed beta. Still playing one now in the open beta. I do like the paladin changes, however, I don't think the playstyle matches what I like.
I like to deal out massive damage up close. I don't do shields, so its two handed weapons or dual wield.
So, my choices are pretty much between rogue and warrior.
Is an all combat rogue viable? While stealth is cool, its not my style. I like to charge in, guns blazin' and smash stuff.
Or would a damage based warrior suit me better?

So pretty much you want other people to decide your char for you? Just play what ever you think is better....Just start out with one character if you dont like it make a different one.

Nope, that's not what I said. I want opinions of people that have played the classes already, as I am a casual player and don't have the time nor energy to place a class for awhile, decide I don't like it and then start over.
With a number of different opinions from different sources, I can crunch the numbers and form my own opinion.

Your playtime doesn't have a lot of bearing unless you specifically do not want to be tied down with long instance groups, in which case you might want to play a 'non-essential' class such as backup healer, rogue, hunter... though I may offend some with that comment!
Basically, the 'holy trinity' of Warrior/Priest/Mage end up being the backbone of a group and the other classes are added to that for flavor or variety, not because they're required. Many players argue this debate with heated opinions, but I'll leave that up to you to decide.
Bottom line, really, play what feels fun to you. The good news is, in open beta, you have time to level up several newbie characters to 'get a feel' for what seems most interesting to you. If you like the versatility and fun-toys of the rogue, play that... if you like powerhouse tanking, play the warrior. The classes are, amazingly, still changing even at the last minute... no one can guarantee you a good time based on played impressions because what's fun for one guy may be completely boring for the next guy.
I'm a priest... you might find my role completely dead boring or maybe even too much stress, not enough action for your tastes. The rogues in here may describe their class as AWESOME, but when you play one you find it to be too weak in armor and zerg rushing gets you DEAD too much so you'd rather go with the solidness of the warrior and plate wearing.
This game isn't that much different from others in the class archetypes, so whatever you've enjoyed in the past, you'll probably enjoy in WoW. The rogue is less of the focus than the warrior, but certainly valued in most groups, and can solo as can all classes, though some are obviously faster than others.
Try a few different ones... it's easy to level to 10 or higher depending on how much time you invest, in just one night of play if you're efficient.
Don't rely on other players to suggest their class, everyone's tastes are different.

Thanks for the input, appreciate it.
I wasn't trying to tell someone else to pick my class for me, just check the facts. I like high dps that is dealt fast and don't care much for armor. In SB, I liked scouts, and beta version of mage bladeweavers, etc...so based on responses thus far, it seems rogues are for me. I did have a rogue up to level 12, but as I have heard from many others, the early levels really arent an indication of your character at 60...

Yeah, it sounds like you're more of a rogue player than a warrior player based on this info you gave... which you pretty much answered your own question... maybe you just thought perhaps warrior might add something you couldn't find in the rogue.
It's true the real power of the class doesn't show up until probably 30+, but that's true for almost all of the classes in WoW and part of the character building process. Good news is, it's not that painful to re-roll in WoW like previous games in my opinion. Leveling is faster and items are easy enough to come by through normal playing/grouping and buying from players on auction. The only bad thing about re-rolling is time invested and work on tradeskills, but if you do, you can always use your old char as a tradeskill bot and mail your new character items.
Blizz has made it fairly painless to play and level multiple characters, even for casual gamers.

This is the best way to pick. put the names in your hat and pick out on and play the other one as your alt simple.

Is it just me or with this new durability death system does it seem like Blizzard is trying to make it take longer to level? Money sinks=time sinks when they're on this grand of a scale.
