Was pretty cool I guess. Then again sorta boring. We had to play it really safe.

Bacially I was about to go to bed, then Connacht messages me and asks if I wanna help them kill this 'really hard mob' in Feralas. So I figure it's gotta be somewhat tough if thid guy can't kill it. I fly to Menethil, boat to Darkshore and then fly all the way down to Feralas.

I arrive and theres about 10 people waiting. We start killing some non named Chimera in the area. Was pretty interesting as the Paladins could hold aggro fairly well. CopyKitty was tanking alot of the time and holding aggro very well. Warriors also could hold the aggro. Yet this was mainly 1 or 2 pulls. Those aren't usually as trivial as the fun pulls I know you are used to.

So we try it with like 14 people or so and well it doesn't go to well. This Chimera casts an AE dot that deals alot of damage. I am guessing the range was approx 30 yards. So we all die due to that dot and wasting mana healing everyone. Connacht calls in a full raid group as we just clear around the Isle of Dread gathering shards and some rogues even skinning for leather.

So we get the 40 people there and we decide to give it a go with 40 people. It was pretty horrible, all the warriors just charged in, mages started nuking, the Lord starting AOE'ing everyone with his evil spell. Aggro shifted way too much, healing mana was wasted on the dots, ugh it was very sloppy.

Finally on the last go we tell the leader of the event that we need one main tank and then everyone can deal damage after he establishes the aggro. The lame part here is, our plan was to have everyone sit out of the AE range and just have KyanMehwulfe tank the beast. So rogues and warriors only used their ranged weapons (which was sorta lame) and Paladins were called to heal.

Took about 10 minutes, but in the end the Lord dropped dead, everyone stormed to the corpse (greedy bastards) and CopyKitty looted. Inside was nothing.

I felt bad for the rogues and warriors who didn't go in and deal the damage they oh so wanna deal. The event lasted a damn long time, but killing him was pretty rewarding I guess. Just wish that strats that we used didn't trivialze the game as much. This might be how to defeat every other raid boss *shrug*. Tomorrow I think we might do Onyxia as she was bugged when we tried before Feralas.

That's the one thing that's worrying everyone is how are warriors supposed to hold aggro effectively now. Then of course Eno posted that we were all noobs and didn't know how to, but it's pretty bad, dal was having some trouble holding aggro on one elite mob that he and i were duoing, he taunted and my renew tick put aggro back onto me, the sad part is that if the tank doesn't have aggro, it's hard for the tank to get any aggro back, and end game rogues and mages will outdamage the warrior making aggro control even harder.

Grats on your raid, sorry he didn't have anything for you.

Keeping aggro is no longer a spam fest.

A skillful warrior does a fine job of keeping the majority of aggro. We have a druid and shammy with us for some mad off tanking.

Shaman now have some attention getters as well. -If timed right with a warrior, you can often switch aggro between the 2 of them fairly well.

As a troll, my group let's me go to 20% for berserking before they heal. Once I pick up speed I can grab some aggro off of a caster with an earth shock and a couple quick hits.

The game is better now.

Forgive my ignorance if this sounds stupid as I haven't played this game as much or to as high a level as all of you, but I was thinking of an alternate strategy.

Is the AoE mana based? If so, maybe having the mages take turns using counterspell while some of the priests use Mana Burn to wipe its mana reserve. While this is happening, some of the tanks could be using Shield Bash to fill in the gaps between counterspells and resists while the others handle the aggro.

I am pretty sure he didn't have mana, it was insta cast as well. We had mages using detect magic on him so we could dispell his Lightning shield that deals 500 damage.
