Yesterday i did several Duels vs an other Shaman. I am Lvl 34, 22 Talent points put into Ele (rest into resto), 1h Axe (~17 dps, 2.20 speed)+ shield (my equipment is int/sta based); He was a bit higher, mainly Enhancement skilled, 2h weapon (~25 dps, slow speed) (his equipment wass str/agi/sta based). Since I knew He is more a melee, I put Earthbind Totem, gave him a Frostshock, casted Lightning shield, purged him at the beginning of the Duel. After that i tried to run around him and giving him a shock from time to time. In the first round, i managed to reduce his Life to 1/3 of max value. However in the 2nd a complete Desaster followed. He started using grounding totem, so my shocks werent effective.
Here are my questions:
1. Is Enhancement build more effective than Ele for pvp? in Midgame and Endgame?
2. Is my tactic false? are there better tactics? or way to improve mine?
3. Does my Equipment fit to my playstyle?

First, i hate shaman vs. shaman duels so i dont bother with them!
Second, I love my 30 ele 21 resto for pvp!
If you insist on dueling a shaman just melee and use lvl 1 earth shock to stop a heal at a critical time, use grounding totem right before you heal yourself, then unload an alpha strike if they get around 1500 hp (earth shock, fire nova totem, ns + chain lightning) and hope none of them get resisted.
Or you cna forget the alpha strike and just see who gets lucky with procs.
As for equipment, I am all STA / INT / Spirit. Around 4100 HP 5300 mana at 60. Buffed i can get over 6k hp with a flask now :D
EDIT: the 1500 HP figure really isnt applicable to a lvl 30, so scale appropriately.

Shaman/Shaman duels are fun.
The "problem" you were running into was at that level...Shaman are true powerhouses. Wasnt he shocking you, too? I would think with his spec, weapon selection, plus his shocks you would be outclassed...if he could touch you. If you were just kiting him, then you run the chance of going oom before you kill him. Either way he tries to use grounding against you and he is snared you should have just hit it with your fast axe and run off with a shock. Laughing the whole way.
IMO, its a toss-up. I like Enhancement/Restoration. I tried the Elemental route, but I found the situational use of Ele just wasnt as useful. There will be differing opinions here. I guess it is preference really. Im Enhance to Parry, Rest to NS, the rest in Ele and Im a nasty package. the only thing I really miss are the nasty ele crits and the 5 sec shocks. Both I can live without however.
As far as your equipment, I would say if you're using Eagle equipment, w/ shield/1h...you're fine. Elemental needs the Sta/Int. Hell I have stuck with the mostly Int/Sta for my Shaman as I like having all that mana/hps. Decent Agi/Str is good enough. The advantages of more hps far outweigh the other, IMO.
Next time you fight this guy just dont waste your shocks on him once he drops a grounding...axe the totem and move on. Just remember you have to keep him snared, in the mean time. Then Shock the tar out of him. You should be able to get 2 shocks off for every grounding. Close for a bit of melee every now and then and ES him when he tries to heal...done deal. Also...hit him with a DoT the first time, at least.

Also...regarding NS. I assumed since you said you had points into elemental you didnt have that yet. If somehow I read that wrong, then by all means beat him down to half then unload.
Wait for the heal, ES, Totem, NS/Lightning. Might need one or two hits to finish him off, hehehee.
Nice write-up, Evil.
For the record...Shaman/Shaman duels are a pita, and I too tend to avoid them.

Thx for the quick and usefull Replies. I think i ll stick with my planned build(s) standart 22/7/22 or with 30/0/21. I intend to my the final decision in end game. I got to know the use of lightning shield in endgame ;)
