View Full Version : Agility build for Warriors?

First I know that warriors do not get the same bonus from agility that a Rogue gets. Furthermore I have never asked if a hunter gets an agility bonus.
My question though is, has anyone with a 60 warrior tried out a high agility/stam build using lot of chain, with some plate here and there for Strength?
Lets say you lost 2000 armor, but you had +200 agility, as opposed to +80 agility. In pvp would this be viable? I know for PVE Max AC would win hands down.
Thanks for any insite on this. My warrior is almost lvl 50. And I find I am still wearing a lot of plate from lvl 40. So I was playing around with the idea of farming for high level chain, as opposed to high lvl plate.

2000 armor = "teh sexx"

I guess what I am really asking is:
Is it possible to boost your agility high enough, that in say Berserker Stance your Crit % is say around 50% ?
Would be nice if every other hit was a Crit.
I would greatly Increase warrior effectiveness against all Caster Classes, and Increase DPS exponentialy, we might be able to consistently kill mages... or am I dreaming.

No, but with the right pieces of instance gear and enchants you can hit 25-30% rather easily, and still hit 5k base hp.

Thing is :
If you want high crit rate and are okay with putting armor to the side for it...
...why don't you rogue a roll... erm roll a rogue?

First, you don't need to use Mail to get Agi. Unless you want to do something stupid like use the Hunter's Beaststalker set.. Second, we get more bonus out of Agi per crit rate then rogues do.
At level 60 it breaks down like this:
100 agi = +5% crit, +5% dodge and +200 armor.
100 str = +15 DPS
100 sta = +100 0hp
The way I figure it, warrior at level 60 normal dps with battleshout and blessing of might, is at about 150, probably higher.
So 100 str = 10% more damage
On the other hand, 100 Agi = 5% more crits, which works out to about 6-8% more damage with Deep Wounds and the extra rage generation from crits, and an extra 6-8% absorption due to Dodge and extra armor.
100 Sta, with average end-game warrior having 4000-5000+ HP, is atleast a 20% increase in HP.
What it breaks down to, is STR provides best straight out-damage raise until you pass 160 or so DPS (buffs are included, because they make str worth less due to it's linearity). At that point Agility matches, and as DPS increases, surpasses it for damage increase.
For protection, AGI gives atleast 5% damage decrease due to the straight dodge rate increase, and a bit more due to the armor increase, which depends on if your a shield user or not.
Also, as a note, having more stamina does not always make you a better tank. If your priest heals your life bar 5 times over, then 5% dodge rate increase from 100 agi, matches the 20% total HP increase from Stamina.
It gets more complicated due to the numbers involved in greater heals, losing some healing due to max health limits and so on, but you get my meaning.
Overall, I'd say a good end-game MS warrior will have a good amount of STR, AGI and STA. Neglecting any of those gives more negative effects then you get from focusing on one. Though it also gets to a point where STR and STA give less per point, while Agi does not.
I'd say break it down like this:
STR enough so you have 150+ DPS with Battleshout and some other long-duration buff like Blessing of Might or Mark of the Wild..
STA, enough so you pass 5,000 HP with buffs, probably more if you are main tanking.
After you reach those two 'markers' in STA and STR, I'd say rest should go to AGI, to make more use of your HP and STR with Dodge and Crit rate.

Thanks Matkun That was exactly the kind of answer I was looking for. As I haven't hit 60 yet, I needed some actualy numbers.
And as for rolling a rogue, well... I have one primed, thing is, a rogue is my stealth and assasin, warrior is just all out melee everything. Just preference I guess.

To have 5k hp, 150 constant DPS, and still have pieces of armor left over to get AGI gear would be quite a feat.

I kinda had the same idea going with my character:

My gear is far from ideal but I do seem to tank a bit better than most.
