I've been trying to kill baron with 5 for the last few nights, we've tried a good 15 times or so, right now our group is priest rogue war pal mage, but a few times we tried with priest war war pal mage, or priest war pal pal mage, I was just curious if this is even possible? does your group need to be setup in a certain way? I know that people that had argent in beta had to do baron with 5, I know most people will just tell me to disband from raid group but thats bullshit, this is a personal goal, i dont even care about quest/items, anyone have tips? did you guys do this? do you even remember doing this? it was awhile ago.
appreciate it.
A few Nurfed groups have done it 5 man. I know one that had the most success did it with a Priest(Tivoli) , Druid(Scorch) , Shaman(Bruja) , Mage(Kaiser) & Warrior(Sintor).

Two ways to get a boost to help you 5 man Baron.
Get the Medalion of Faith so the paladin helps kill Baron (quite a bit of extra dps when 5mannin it)
All 5 of you get at least 1 holy water, and use those to take out the skeletons faster. One holy water will take the skeletons down to about 1 or 2 arcane explosions worth of HP, allowing ur mage to concentrate more on Baron.

We did it in a 5 man about a week ago. We brought 1 Warrior, 1 Rogue, 1 priest, 1 druid, 1 mage.
We did whipe once on a bad add pull, but after that it was pretty smooth to the Baron. To top it off he dropped the epic Runeblade. Our warrior happily wears it.

The time I did it on 5, we were warrior/shaman/mage/warlock/priest. I went OOM, Baron went down to 1% and everyone was dead but me. I regenned just enough mana for a mind blast, nuked him and he died, then I died to skeletons 2 seconds later. Soulstone ressed and ressed party. :)

Innerviate and Evocation, really do help in such a long and painful encounter. If they ever get around to actually fixing shadow resist, this encounter will ebcome much easier, as his shadow aura is fukin nuts.

thanks for your awesome advice guys, the key for us was the holy water, it really helped our tanks remove the skeletons while conserving our mages mana for dps towards baron. I was wondering since you were so helpful if you could possibly give us some ideas about our next fight, the last few nights we've been working on Alexei Barov, although this encounter and this mob in general seems alot easier than baron, with the 2 guards and 5 men, its pretty hard to get the right strategy. So far our strat was to shackle one guard, keep tank on alexei, have paladin mage rogue on the other guard, The problem was that by the time the guard was dead, the priest was oom or close to it , I know we need more practice getting rid of that 75% heal reduction curse that he does, but either way it doesnt seem like 5 men is enough dps for alexei and the 2 guards. any advice would be awesome.

Make sure you aren't casting heals on someone with the curse and be sure to get the curse off as fast as you can, otherwise your healers are just wasting mana.

We had our mage pull the second guard over towards the door and frost nova, then keep kiting it and nuking Alexi when he could.
Baron with 5 in lbrs gear
mage, war, prist, pal, rogue
Did it first try, was rather easy considering how hard it was to get to him because of bugs. Blessing of salvation and unload is what we basically did. Kill as fast as possible. No holy water or anything, the skeles die to like 2 AExps.
Alexi with 5 same group
Shack 1 guard, have Paladin fear the other guard, unload on named. Paladin fear is key, make sure all other rooms downstars are cleared. Blessing of salvation really helps, mage can go nuts.
Gandling with 5 same group
Priest mana burns, paladin heals, rest unload.

I always see how paladins help manage aggro in so many ways in different situations......
How does shaman help with aggro management? Sure they have rockbiter which is suppose to pull aggro but their also wearing mail, and not plate. Not to mention both classes have buffs/heals, yet paladins gets all these awesome aggro controls.
Paladin far > shaman in pve?
I guess to balance it out shaman will have to keep dominating paladins in pvp? I guess I could live with that :P
