Warrior +Def Items

Can someone tell me how +defense items factor out for warriors in PvP? Would it be worth it to just invest in stamina instead? Thanks.

This has been something i have been testing recently...

before i leveled a while ago i was only able to get around +28 defense... and when i tested it the results were as such: Against rogues and casters that meleed (aka lots of low dmg hits) it was very helpful
But then i tested against a hunter who used a 2h and it didnt do much at all, i lived only 5 seconds longer where as i lived over a minute longer against the rogue / warlock

These tests were all just flat out melee with no abilities

I am planning to test this again over the next few days with +55 defense and see if it is good and ill post the results for you :) but so far I would say either keep def gear with you for those pesky rogues or dont use it at all ;P

Defense skill means pretty much 0 in pvp. They want you to be able to hit people that are higher level than you without problem, and the "level difference" is actually a defense skill v weapon skill comparison. I'm pretty sure the pvp formula is opponents defense can't be calculated as higher than your max weapon skill.

13 Defense = 1% to dodge/parry/block afiak

which is worth about 300 ac (depending on where you are near cap, talking the added dmg reduction)

Defense also makes it harder for folks to crit you and land large specials (per the tooltip)

I dont know how much Stam should work into that formula. probably depends on what you're tanking. but i'd say 5-8 is probably fair.

Thanks alot, still kind of unsure about it though. An example if items I can think off the top of my head would be the Ornate Adamantium BP (+15 Defense) and the General's Ceremonial BP (+30 Stamina). Which one would be better for PvP and why?

I am currently under same dilema. I'm planning to make several sets once my warrior hits 60, and Defense would be one of those. Now the set I have constructed gives +190 Defense, or +200 if you have anticipation. I am not sure how this will affect miss rates on me.

Mind you it's best case scenario, as some of the pieces are hard to obtain. But you can get over 50 easily, and over 100 with some work.

hehe, well im only level 43 so i dont have anything like +200 def ;P

But i tested today with +54 defense... and it was the most useless thing ever.. i tested against rogues and hunters and then after deciding it did nothing in PvP i thought maybe it did something in PvE... but actually it hurt me rather than helped ;P
Against a mob 2 levels lower than he... with +54 defense he hit me more often, and on average 7 more dmg because of the lack of armor in my defense gear

It may be worth it with +200 defense O_O but im not sure how useful it is... oh well ;P guess ill stick with max +armor :D

If only all mobs did melee dmg, but their always casters thrown into the mix in pvp and pve.

Best to try to find a good medium.

Good medium = lots of stamina, since it makes heals more efficient when you're getting them spammed on you.
