On my old warlock, I did tailoring and enchanting. That worked ok, cept enchanting is such an expensive tradeskill I was always broke. On the new one I rolled, I am going to try engineering and mining. Alchemy would be an ok choice as well for all the buffs one can get from it.

it depends on what type of player you are. Any tradeskill combo can theoretically work for any class. Allbeit taking leatherworking or blacksmithing on a cloth-only class may sound foolish, but you could always sell your goods for extra cash.
Engineering gives an edge in PvP with some of the gadgets and gizmos you can use. But then, if everyone on the PvP servers took engineering, there would be nobody to make bags, no enchantments, etc.
Enchanting/tailoring is a nice combo, but as stated, enchanting is expensive. If you have a guild backing you up that can supply you with green items or cash to offset the cost, it's not so bad.
Alchemy is always a good tradeskill, for any class. Not just for the basic health/mana pots and such, but regen pots, stat increasing pots, water breathing, etc.
It's really up to you and what you want to make. I know a lot of people who just take some combination of herbalism/mining/skinning and just sell everything at the AH for major profit.

I always enjoyed doing alchemy and herbalism with my warlock as the heal potions compliment healthstones really well, if i get low and i hit my stone and pot its practically a full heal, great combo.

yeah i tot of goin herbalism / alchemy..
so what secondary skills do u guys use ? i would rather prefer first aid than cooking.. =) gimme some opinions..
oh well.. i guess engineering would be more suitable for warriors as they can make bombs and guns to pull enemy from afar / bomb peeps when they got frost nova.

Get all the secondaries, I got Cooking and First aid and fishing. I doubt Ill actually skill any of them but you can take them all without penalty.
I also have Tailoring and Skinning atm. Once Im finished tailoring I will do enchanting I think.

Well im up shit creek because I did herb/alch too and I still have three 6 slot bags. How do you manage your soulstones + herbs? Because its driving me nuts. Of course it doesnt help that almost everytime I try to sell something to vendor I crash =(.

Alchemy is cool but engineering is better.
You don't have to be an alchemist to use a potion. Have your buddy who's a sucker be an alchemist so you can steal his potions and get engineering to stun 40 people for 5 seconds, then sprint out and turn invisible, and get on top of the roof to float down and hit everyone for 500-800 dmg.
