Hello friends today it's time for the music recommendation thread. Here's how this works:

1) I will list a number of artists categorized by genre that you should listen to.
2) For each artist I will describe a brief description as well as a link to samples of mp3s from an album available on amazon.com.
3) Upon checking out my picks, you should in turn post your own, following these specifications.

I like most of what Brad likes because I am a big copy cat. In fact I get most of my musical recomendations from him.

If you like late 70s punk (who doesnt?!) you should definatly pick up No Thanks: 70s Punk Rebellion (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0000DD539/qid=1108316573/sr=8-3/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i3_xgl15/002-2630750-1619222?v=glance&s=music&n=507846) it is an excellent compliation, and also a great way to find new artists. Pretty much every song is worth listening to, and it's 4 discs long.

Possibly because he is a homosexual, Brad left out the celtic line of music. Gonna list a few bands going from Celtic, to Celtic with a huge punk twist, I think they are all really good.

The Chieftans (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000060P2Z/qid=1108316828/sr=2-1/ref=pd_ka_b_2_1/002-2630750-1619222)
The Pogues (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005AQCL/qid=1108316903/sr=2-1/ref=pd_ka_b_2_1/002-2630750-1619222)
Flogging Molly (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000060MMI/qid=1108316978/sr=2-2/ref=pd_ka_b_2_2/002-2630750-1619222)
Dropkick Murphys (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000584TY/qid=1108317051/sr=2-2/ref=pd_ka_b_2_2/002-2630750-1619222)

I also love MC Chris, but that is a pretty niche thing. www.mcchris.com

Edit: Stuff I can't belive I didn't add that I am putting in now in a hurry.
Operation Ivy - Energy
Cock Sparrer
Rancid - And out come the Wolves
River City Rebels - No Time No Pride
Modest Mouse (fuck you)
Blue Scholars
The Decemberists
Billy Bragg - Back to Basics, not his wilco bullshit.

DECAPITATED - excellent polish band, been signed since the age of 14, extremely talented all of them, pay close attention to the drummer hes extremely fast ont he pedals and can blast beat like no other, very technical and tight stitched guitar work, a must have for any extreme metal fan.
