A girlfried of mine (from my guild) wants to play Warri and I intend to follow her on my second char. I am only a low level (41) Priest, and am trying to find out some about the best templates for group PvE or Raid Instancing, some kind of aggro management and so on...
And I have further questions, how good does a not Prot talented warri hold aggro in 5-man-group Instances like BRD @ Indalamar or any others.
And does this work in Raid Instances, I want a template that works best especially for MC and coming raid instance gameplay!
Ist it a major problem not to have "Improved Taunt" or "Defiance"?
Does anyone know very good Prot Templates or are there other possibilities to hold aggro most effectively as a warri? Only hold aggro by dam? If so then the MS build would be very good imhofor this!
pls help me :)

We (Nurfed Warriors) play on a PvP server and do not spec protection.
We use Taunt, Demo, Sunder, Revenge, Mocking Blow, /rude, Kitchen Sink and whatever else we can think of to cause aggro.

There is no protection build that will make you hold aggro better. Not even Defiance (I believe it generates aggro only on normal attacks, not skills which sucks).
All you can expect from protection build is make your healer mana last longer. A little...
Only two skills I like in protection tree are Last Stand and Concussion Blow. Improved Revenge is also too chancy for my taste.
Edit: Improved Taunt is a joke too. Every class can tank a litte for two seconds if needed. =)

I used to play on the PvP server in Beta but all my friends play on a PvE server so I wanted to play with them more so I am on a PvE server now. :(
Anywho my friend is a warrior and tanks very well and is my MT of choice if I go into an instance and here is his spec:
Arms Talents (5 points)
Deflection - 5/5 points
Increases your Parry chance by 5%.
Fury Talents (10 points)
Cruelty - 5/5 points
Increases your chance to get a critical strike with melee weapons by 5%.
Unbridled Wrath - 5/5 points
Gives you a 40% chance to generate an additional Rage point when you deal melee damage.
Protection Talents (36 points)
Anticipation - 5/5 points
Increases your Defense skill by 10.
Toughness - 5/5 points
Increases your armor value from items by 10%.
Improved Bloodrage - 2/2 points
Reduces the duration required to generate rage from your Bloodrage ability by 4 seconds.
Last Stand - 1/1 point
When activated, this ability temporarily grants you 30% of your maximum hit points for 20 seconds. After the effect expires, the hit points are lost.
Improved Revenge - 3/3 points
Gives your Revenge ability a 40% chance to stun the target for 3 seconds.
Defiance - 5/5 points
Increases the threat generated by your attacks by 15% while in Defensive Stance.
Improved Taunt - 2/2 points
Reduces the cooldown of your Taunt ability by 2 seconds.
Improved Sunder Armor - 3/3 points
Increases the armor reduction of your Sunder Armor by 30%.
Improved Shield Wall - 1/2 point
Increases the effect duration of your Shield Wall ability by 3 seconds.
Improved Shield Bash - 2/2 points
Gives your Shield Bash ability a 100% chance to silence the target for 3 seconds.
Concussion Blow - 1/1 point
A brutal strike that deals weapon damage and stuns the opponent for 5 seconds.
One-Handed Weapon Specialization - 5/5 points
Increases the damage you deal with one-handed melee weapons by 10%.
Shield Discipline - 1/1 point
While active, increases the amount of damage absorbed by your shield by 50% and increases the damage done by your Shield Bash ability by 200%. Lasts 20 seconds.
Oh and for the good news this PvE server is driving me nuts I like playing with my friends but other people in the guild are agravating me so I might be joining you all on Archimonde very soon.

We are on a PvP Server too, but if this build (MS) is very good at aggroing the mobs on tank and not on healer, I like it :)
(Mean the MS build of Indalamar I've seen here)
And now I read the answers considerate :)
I dont understand what "Kitchen Sink" is :(

On a personal observation, I've noticed that MS doesn't hold aggro as well as sunder armor, demo shout, and revenge do, even if you MS in defensive stance. However, you don't HAVE to be a protection warrior to hold aggro, the difference is minimal from what I've tested. The nice perks of a protection warrior in PvE is the Last Stand, and the two stuns (imp. revenge and conc blow) you can get out of it for building up aggro. As a protection warrior, you may be able to absorb more damage, but your DPS is horrible compared to an MS warrior.

I dont understand what "Kitchen Sink" is :(It's a joke :P There used to be a phrase people used that went "Everything but the kitchen sink", in reference to there being a lot of stuff somewhere.

Some falacies here, I hold agro better with 34 prot/10 arms/5 fury than I did with MS spec. Each to thier own, Imp Revenge, Shield Discipline and Imp Shield block 1 are life savers. Not to mention the nice reduction to blood rage cost and Last stand. Defiance, I'm not sure, I have 5/5, it does its job passively, i seem to hold agro better overall, as I'm in def stance all the time. I still do OK, not great, in pvp, as long as i have heals to back me up, I'm more of a debuffer/harraser, than a dps class without MS, as I can disarm, stun x3 (tauren), sunder if needed (not really) and swap stances for Hammy/Whirlwind/Execute.

I've done 5 man group of BRD and Scholomance with my MS warrior, both times sharing tanking duties with the Paladin. He absorbs damage a bit better then me since he uses a shield, but if I wanted to have aggro I easily got it. Basically anything that I was beating on I got aggro on. A whirlwind or 2 plus a few shouts and I would have whole group aggro at times.
Bosses, I also end up main tanking due to damage output.
So yes, I fully believe MS build warrior can hold aggro quite well. There's no question that I take a good 20-30% more damage then a Protection Warrior, but considering that I also do 40-50% more damage then a prot warrior, which means things die noticably faster, which means that they don't beat on me for so long....
well it comes down to it that our healer's mana lasts longer because stuff dies faster.
I have not done raids yet, but from what I've been told from friends who have, for main-tanking in a raid you do need a protection warrior. The 20-30% more absorption makes more of a difference then adding 1/15th more DPS or so.

Okay thx for the big help, think I have now some little warrior knowledge :)
But what about the weapons? Is the MS build for two handed swords? Does it work on one handed swords + shield? What about the weapon issue from Prot builds and the MS build?

It will take you at least 15~ seconds, if you don't use ANY other abilities, to generate enough rage for MS with a 1hd/shield combo. You just can't do it man. MS is built for slow 2hders, not faster 1hder/shield combo.

MS build is ideal with a 3.5 speed or more weapon. Your better off with a protection or Fury build if you want to use one hand + shield most of the time.
And not sure whatyou mean by 'weapon issue'?

Thougt of something like: 8-15 weapon questitem and so on, just some advice.. Level ~31 weapon xxx dropped in Razorfen Kraul and some like that, or is there a list somewhere here? I wanna know where to get the stuff that makes my warrior not only wear crap weapons :)
