We're making similar MC progress on the Blackrock server (Lucifron down, Magmadar to come), but we don't have a raid force as dedicated as some of the EQ-based guilds on the PvE servers. How did you guys raid MC both Friday and Saturday? Did you just take the same 40 people, or does keeping the same raid and inviting new people into it the next day also work? Or is there some other way I've missed? Thanks.

95% of the raid was the same both days, if I remember right.

I believe the rule, or so I've heard, is that you won't get a lockout unless you kill a boss mob. I think Lucifron was not a boss mob, however. Anyway, I didn't go Friday and was able to join the raid on Saturday. Had they killed Magmadar, however, that may have been a different case.

That probably won't help you, but at least it allows some flexibility for farming non-boss mobs.

No, that's how it's supposed to work, but this is WoW. The raid randomly locks, usually only a few minutes after you zone in. However, as long as you keep the same raid group there's a chance you can get new people in, but I'm not certain of this, so I'm wondering if you guys have figured this out. We haven't yet been able to get new people into a locked raid, but for obvious reasons, we certainly want to.

I don't think we have quite figured out exactly what causes the lockout. It's almost as if a raid group is locked upon entering and if you attempt to add anyone before the 11 day lockout is over, they will be locked to their own and separate raid group. We were able to raid both Friday and Saturday because we finally decided we wait out the duration and not go back until we were sure our entire raid force would be allowed in.

To be honest, we got lucky and were able to add about 5 people to replace those who could not make it on Saturday night. With the exception of a few people, however, we've been lucky to have a very dedicated raiding force and as tng said, about 90% of the initial raid stayed the same.
