Gnomish vs. Goblin Engineering - discussion

I got little experience with engineering so I'd like to hear your opinion on this, which one comes out on top?

A few questions:
Are all the bombs usable by both categories?
How's the chance of gnomish trinkets backfiring affecting its usefulness?
Are you able to use a goblin trinket while being a gnomish engineer if you get them by trade and vice versa? (if they arn't BOP ofcourse)
And which one of the two categories' BOP trinkets are the best in your opinion?

any engineer can use gnomish or goblin items except for the BoP ones, the gnomish BoP items are much better than the goblin ones.

im goblin, and pretty much the only good thing about it is being able to make goblin sapper charges

isn't there some bombs that only goblins can make?
I read a little about this goblin mortar, too. And it can only be reloaded by a goblin, is this a big or small deal? :o

And it seems a bit easier to just get the gnomish trinkets from someone else, rather than pestering someone about making a new stock of bombs for you all the time

yeah, but if you're goblin you can get the gnomish death ray :(

and the gnomish death ray is a must have @ lvl 60?

well... as a gobo you only miss out on the battle chicken and the death ray... both of which are my favorite trinkets.... but i still think that gobo is probably better... unless your a mage O_O cause most classes need the bombs and the dragon gun etc etc

I had to make this decision today too. Pala can Invuln and use the deathray, but I think goblin is the more group condusive choice. Also I have the Fear Immune and Blackhands breadth trinkets, which are sorta musts for me as it is and i hate switchin shit ;<
