Well i just have a question about my future Rogue in retail.

I see much dudes with Dual Swords or Sword-Dagger combination...but why are they playing like that?...if u use those weapon-builds u can't use Backstab/Ambush..So now is my question, cause i trained on Dagger-build, if it's worth it to play Swords Rogue......So can someone say me why many ppl use the Swords-build?

Its all about playstyle. I personally don't like stealthing around, and play much more in your face. This means that most of what I do is SS & Evis. Evis is independent of weapon damage. BUT... SS is like 150% weapon damage + xx damage. Consider at my level the high end of damage on daggers is like 60ish, but on my main hand sword, the high end of damage is 110ish. So a SS with sword does wayy more damage than SS with dagger.

Bottom line: if you're going to mostly doing SS/Evis, you're better off with a sword or mace. If you do a lot of backstabs or ambushes, then you're better off with daggers. And the choice between those boils down to personal playstyle preference.

Well I wish that it was 150% weapon damage + XX. Its your weapon damage + the added damage of the level of SS that you are using. Since SS is an instant strike regardless of weapon speed, a weapon with more damage typically your slower ones hit harder and are more beneficial for SS.

The dagger Rogues specced in Ambush/Backstab rely alot less on SS's. its more of an Ambush, Gouge+Backstab route with Eviscerate. You can really get a decent damage SS when it crits. It depends what your your play style is. Theres many different specs for either builds.

think i like swords more, cause of the lack of design at the daggers....but i thought Dagger-build does more dmg cause of the ambush/backstabs (if u can handle them)....or am i wrong?

I was using swords all the way up till 52. Then I started using daggers and switch to a dagger talent build. I do alot more damage then I did with my swords as long as I am in a group. For soloing or grinding I would definitely suggest sword. I never tried maces out.

I've never gone with a sword spec personally, but if you have the right kind of talent build for either swords or daggers, along with similar quality weapons, the daggers will do more damage in PvP or group PvE every time. Obviously the big DPS comes from crits, and rogues tend to crit A LOT, so personally I think you want your highest damage dealing attacks to be what you sink talent points into because the more you crit with the big boys, the more damage you do overall.

For pure DPS, I don't think you can beat a backstab and ambush crit build rogue. You might come close, but you won't be getting the 1400ish dmg ambush crit openers, or the 1000ish dmg backstab crits, and you'll still be able to get the occasional 5 point eviscerate crit for 2000ish dmg on cloth or reduced armor targets.

The fact is you can still play an ambush/backstab crit rogue very efficiently while solo leveling too, especially if you get a decent main hand sword with good top end damage so you can use a macro and switch to that after you do an ambush for an opener. Just invest 8 points in the combat tree so you can get improved sinister strike and improved backstab. You'll really want the improved SS for solo grinding, and improved backstab for just about everything really.

When it comes to PvP a backstab/ambush rogue is going to have to do a lot more maneuvering in order to be most effective, since you're going to want to be behind your target most of the time. If you don't think you can manage that, you should probably go SS spamming with swords 4TW.
