What do you high level priests find yourselfs doing in end game pvp? 5v5, and raids. I want to make a priest, but I don't want to be a heal a second kind of guy, I want to kill guys also, and don't get me wrong, I like healing people, I just don't want to be healing them HARDCORE. I watched the DIE video of them vs. you guys in Hillsbrad and it seemed like the priest that the perspective it showed it from was healing the entire time, with one dot, and one dmg spell thrown, that is all.

I have a 35 priest, that I enjoyed, I have a 29 Rogue that I enjoyed, but I'm going horde on another server with friends and so far I have a 31 Mage. I don't know what class I want to be, but I am sure that I want to be one of those three.

Any help is more than appreciated. Thanks ^^

Well as a priest you main job is keeping your group alive, depending on how the fight is going i will throw a dot or a mind blast on the target, but i conserve my mana for the most part. In raids your pretty much just healing.

thanks for the reply, I am totally lost with which class I should play. I like the fact that mages do damage, but I am turned away by the end-game situation of being the same thing, same spell animations, and just different gear. I like priests healing and overall utility but I do want to be able to Kill people... Heh, anyways, I like rogues kill speed but they have small utility past stealth, of which i've heard you just use in the beginning of combat anyways...

I don't want to play a Shaman because it seems to me like they take almost no skill to play.

I want a class with at least moderate utility. I don't care about survivability, and obviously all classes have the ability to kill guys, so that isn't an issue. I like the ability to heal, but it isn't a huge issue. I also do like how my character looks.

Any help that anyone can offer of what they think I might possibly want to be would be great without a doubt. I've played the game sooo long, and I should have ONE class to 60 by now, but instead I have a ton of alts because I don't know what I want to play.

Please ask any questions that are needed to know what kind of playstyle I like.

<3 and thanks in advance

druids = utility. takes a lot of skill to use one properly, but with practice you'll do very well in pvp

I liked the idea of druids for a little bit, but then i thought about the idea of being a little bit worse than each of the things that they do then the class that it resembles and I didn't like it much.

Eek, a well played shaman seems hard to find from my perspective!

Shamans and Druids are hybrids that can be played two ways or a combination of several ways in both PvE and PvP -- versatility is good and you can do both defensive healing as well as offensive attacking/magic.

Shadow priests are a definite exception to the 'healbot' role some dislike about the priest. Shadow spec is formidable in PvP but restricted mostly to non-holy (healing) useage so be aware of that if it's your focus. Some shadow priests manage to balance in PvP between decent offensive damage and keeping their group going too.

Me, I'm like Tivoli, and focus on keeping my group alive - which in the end, makes us more powerful in PvP.

My expert advice, give up horde, the way its all set up, a well played alliance team will win it all. And play a paly, its prob the most well balanced class out there, with more then 6+ viable talent builds/gear builds and playstyles, you can pick a flavor every day, youll never get bored of him whether it be a 5v5, mass pvp or wte else your doing.

Also b4 you go and say but arch the paly needs no skills, nha once you get hooked with all the combos you can do with each seals and release from the seals youll be fine, now it may not be button smashing like a rogue, but its more about timing and counting down timers and hits of most effective hits you can do with each seal b4 you switch with other combos. Plus you can easly take up the healing role, rather even more effectivly then a priest i might add, ie a palys greater heal takes .5 sec less to cast, also the flash heals effectivness can be greatly increased with a blessing. Also you can have a semi shield with sop and with talents you can get it down to a 3min cooldown, also ther is always that handy loh, you also get 100% mana back if you do a crit heal with talents AND you can also get to do a 100% crit heal every 2 min so free heal every 2 min and the crits on heals are insane. GG?

Also dont worry about nerfs, cuz wheter ppl like it or not palys are the most balanced class out there, all the class should be balanced like it, its seems quite aparant from every post iv read by the devs, so no fear of patches. Sold ya yet? IF not meh wte gl on wte class you pick.

so your argument is that pallie's are the most balanced class and its just all other classes that are too weak... ? i suppose thats one way of looking at it...

I think most people would probably agree that the paladin has a few skills and abilities that used and timed correctly give it an almost unassailable advantage in PvP against other classes, blizzard will eventually fix these things, bring the warrior up to spec, maybe slice a bit of the hunter, and evnetually the paladin will get a bit chopped of it.

plz plz plz plz plz plz plz plz plz
dont be a priest
I am tired of having a priest in my party that thinks he is a mage... currently i play a fury warrior who never leaves zerker stance so im able to keep almost everyone we are fighting on me at all times, but because im in zerker i get hit pretty hard... and its annoying to see me at 500 health and a mind flay coming out of our priest...

if your gonna be a priest you gotta either put healing first or know when to stop doing dmg... and it sounds like you just wanna do dmg... so plz dont be a priest :)

Amen to that.

And, in case nobody has stopped to notice, a Druid in Dire Bear Form has more hp than a warrior, and is definately not lacking on armor value.

Thank you everyone, after watching the DIE vs. Nurfed, and reading envie's post on Priest, I was sold. I am not a 'hardcore' damage dealer, and I will be spec'ing disc early on for duoing with a warrior. Being a healer is something that I never thought very hard about, and now that I have it is very appealing. I am relied upon, and if I am 'ubar' I am praised.

About Paladin:
#1 I'm not into playing the most powerful class.
#2 I hate Paladin's and almost everything about them.
#3 I am playing horde with about 7 of my RL friends.

Thanks to everyone for the help ^^.

But they are lacking a shield :)

Keep in mind the extra 2-3k Armor a druid can have over a warrior is only about 5% damage reduction. Defensive stance is a flat out 10%.

Then there is the shield, and parrying to consider.

I always thought it was weird when holy/disc priests were referred to as "healbots" in some disparaging way, implying, I suppose, simplciity of character design. My immediate response was: aren't rogues just damage bots? I suppose a good deal of people find doing damage and killing more fun, but keep in mind that a) damage dealing is not a more complicated, skill oriented portion of the game than healing and b) damage dealing is, generally, less powerful than healing in this game (with HPS to DPS taken into consideration). It may sound odd, but I've found that staying ALIVE is in some ways more powerful that killing -- although killing is the ultimate goal.
