So, UD still the Best Race?

So, I know the Race subject was discussed in many threads before US retail, and the general consensus was that pretty much if your class could go undead that would probably be the best choice....especially for rogues, priests and casters.

Now I wonder if after a couple of months into retail people still feel the same way, especially now that we know about fear Immune trinkets and all sorts of cool items that can be equipped to stop crowd control spells.

My thought was, WoF works against Fear, Sleep and Charms. Now many classes can fear, (but as I was earlier saying fear can be taken care of with a trinket) no class that i know off have a sleep spell, and I am still quite dubious on what is considered to be a Charm, (Is polymoprh a charm? is the Seduce spell from the Succubus a charm?)

Is WoF still a make or brake factor in your minds? Or do you know think that maybe good equipment can work as well as WoF? Are Trolls Orcs and Taurens more viable then what we initially thought? Is UD now considered a MUST only for Certain classes?

P.S. I am not intrested in looks this discussion only concerns racial traits effectivness.
P.P.S. I am also asking because i noticed that more then a few Nurfed members went for non UD races in retail....and Nurfed members generally tend to NOT gimp themselfs.

I'm still torn whether to go UD or tauren for my warrior @ EU release.
I saw Indalamar went troll which IMO = o_O considering stomp on tauren / WoF on UD.
Charm = mindcontrol afaik.
On paper UD looks like the best race by far, but item abilities can change that alot and since we don't know blizzards future plans for items it's kind of hard to predict. I think i saw somewhere that Indalamar went troll because they have potential. I agree, but I think I'm gonna play it safe and go UD.

I think it demands on the class really. UD is pretty damn good, but personally as a warr I would go tauren (stomp/hp) or orc (stun resist). WoF is nice, but it is hardly an "I win" button.

For pvp, yes. Will of the Forsaken is arguably the most useful racial talent for pvp.

I play an Undead rogue mainly because they look better as a rogue class. WIll of the Forsaken was the 2nd thing on my mind, but I have seen an overwheling number of Undead compaired to the other races of the Horde.

Lets hope in time and future patches the number of people playing races balances out.

Troll is for regen, spr/stam tanks gain A LOT of life during combat combined with their talent it's like 25% regen in combat, and warriors already get a really high HP regen with more spirit.

15 hp regen in combat over 1 minute = 450 HP regained

Just keeps going up from there.

I went with Tauren because I find War Stomp to be very useful during PvP (and PvE for that matter).

Well nice to see people answering,
I thank all of you for taking the time to post your replies. I think i am gonna go with a rogue in EU retail, since it's pretty much the only class i have experience with (US CB, US OB, EU CB, EU FB into OB) and considering I don't have much time to play, the solo grinding ability the rogue class gives me is a BIG bonus.

So now my final question is: Horde Rogue....Troll or Undead? Tivoli made a really good point with the HP regen...maybe on a low HP class like the rogue it's even more valuable... (but maybe i am getting it wrong and it's really worth it only on a high HP class) plus the blood frenzy...(under 20% life i know...but it's still usefull).

P.S. Pls feel free to discuss other Races/class match ups other then the Rogue one I am asking about.

I think........This is why whenever I fight ANY warrior I always have 2k life left after their laying beneath me =)

The ones that are smart enough to put chains on their weps i usually have 700-1300 life left =)

Nothing beats wof BUT;

Dwarf priest have an anti fear that last for i think 10mins, sure it only works for one fear BUT you can reuse the anti fear again and again cuz it has a 20sec sum cooldown. Id say it somewhat is as good if not a lil better then wof.

Humans have a 5% spirit boost, so if you were a warock you can get the 15% life boost free of charge. Also prety good for a priest and paly ^_^ (for palys it comes with 2 weapon spec, mace and sword)

NE stealth is killer hands down. You can eat, mount and suprise attack ppl, also if your CCed you can rez behind a tree, stealth and stoneout.

Troll life regen is awesome for wars. And if you get deathwish, you should be freakin hard to be feared with BR.

And ps, wof is still the best for most class, with 3 class that can fear it comes in handy quite often more then anything else, best part is the fact that it breaks fear.

It's not great, but it has it's uses. Being able to charge out of stealth can come in handy, as can being able to summon your mount while stealthed before someone targets you so you're not in combat.
