View Full Version : Opinions on a few diffrent classes in group pvp?
Mainly the priest, shaman, and rogue.
How do you guys feel about these classes? Do you believe one stands out more than another? What do you think each one brings?
Just trying to get some opinions from people who have played the game. Are shamans wanted in groups just as much as the other classes, priest? What exactly does the rogue help out with in groups?
thanks

If the priest is played well I personally consider it the best pvp character in the game and it is also highly needed for grouping pvp and instances...

Rogues are able to take on quite a few roles. Most Rogues you will see at level 60 have taken up a sword/mace spec and play frontline dps in PvP groups. Others will use a more stealthy approach and pick off those who stray from the main pack or anyone trying to flank.
Personally, I like to keep them on their toes and use a combination of tactics. My build is based on daggers and crit strikes while using stuns as often as possible. So I tend to hit and run a lot since the opposition likes to hold their line and play stalemate. I bait and goad them into chasing me a little then stun them so another Horde can pick them off. Other than that I find myself stealth roaming around to take out anyone who strays from the main opposing force.

Shaman work great for snaring fleeing enemies, or if you simply want to FS them, then charge. Totems in pvp arent as great since its very easy to run out of range of them. Only useful totem imo is earthbind (with the right timing) and fire nova totem. If played right, a shaman can be as deadly as a warrior (i may even go as far as to say a rogue thanks to WF).
They also function great as secondary healers as well as debuffers since purge rank 2 removes 2 buffs for cheap 75 mana and like 1-2 sec cooldown.

Personally, I don't see a group without a priest, even if it's pvp. Yes I know priests can't deal a whole lot of damage, but when you combine them with classes like warriors or rogues (basically keep them alive), it's a whole different story :)
I can't say much about shamans, because of the fact that I play alliance, but from what I have seen, shaman have a lot of potential because of the fact that they are extremely versatile (or maybe it's just me?), I mean come on, they can nuke and they can heal , oh and did I mention melee? ;) I would imagine that shamans are capable of playing the back up healer in a group, along with meleeing.
As for rogues, well, I think a group can do well without one, but taking out casters is a whole lot easier with a rogue, because of the fact that they can go unnoticed quite easily. Of course rogues can do more than just kill casters, but imo they are best suited for that, while you have the warriors keeping the other guys busy :)
The only real problem I have with rogues (this is coming from my priest point of view), is that I have to spend way too much mana on keeping them alive when they start getting nuked.
Thanks..
about the shaman totems, what about grounding? its instant and gets the instant effect also. Simply stopping one spell could be huge I would think. I dont think any of the shamans actually expect something out of their totems in pvp besides earthbind and grouding?
I really dont care for the rouge too much from a group pvp standpoint. I am looking for more of a high priority role. This doesnt exactly mean healing though. So I guess that leaves me with the shaman and the priest. Would you guys rate the shaman up there with the priest as far as group pvp goes?
