View Full Version : Capped my mage, doing rogue alt, quick question

I know duel wield miss rate is ~24%. I also know it's supposed to not affect specials. I've been checking my damage stats with nurfed mod (great ui btw), and I'm either missing or having my specials dodged or parried over 30% of the time. I have max weapon skill on all my weapons, and am fighting -1 to +1 mobs. Is this how it is for everyone?

Even though Rogues are fun from beginning to end, there are quite a few levels to struggle through (anything before level 25 or so) before you stop noticing the horrendous miss rate.
I'm not sure what it is about a Rogue post level 20. Every one I have created since beta seemed extremely gimp until that point in their development; even with the best equipment for their level.
Don't let it get to you. It's frustration well spent.

Amen to that. I was really worried after trying a rogue for a while, but by 30 everything was going much better. I just hit 50 tonight, and its amazing so far. Hang in there, it gets better.

I'd like to throw in that I think there's been some kind of stealth nerf with miss rates. In the last week or so of doing SM runs I've been getting HUGE chains of misses (I'm talking 15+ in a row) in virtually every fight. I've never noticed anything like it before about a week and a half ago.

I think that's more of an NPC related bug than a stealth nerf. I started noticing it too but didn't pay it much attention since it wasn't happening very often. It seems to be related to the evade bug. There are some days where I PvP quite a bit and I've never seen it happen against another player.

That could be because some humanoid mobs have goofy evasion-like abilities that make you miss a boatload. Like "Improved Blocking"...you'd expect to see block messages but I've only ever seen misses. First noticed this in Dun Garok and it drove me nuts trying to figure out why I was getting huge strings of misses. It's no coincedence that you just started noticing this in SM, because some of the mobs there have it too.
As for rogues seeming gimp before 20 or so...I'd venture to guess that's because abilities like SS and BS haven't matured yet and are really just normal hits with your normal crappy weapon. When you start getting SS that are damage +60 or so, with -5 energy and lethality bonus it looks a lot better. Hell, I feel like the game has been getting easier from 30-55 rather than harder.
