As of today, we can't take our lives for granted anymore. We're at the beginning of the end of mankind if we continue to live the ways of living we have until now. You probably have heard of the movie of Al Gore, but you probably haven't seen it yet. I had not up to now either. I'm a lazy guy and didn't want to download it. However I finally did and it blew my mind away... If you're sceptic, I challenge you to watch this movie. If you want a future, then watch this movie. If you don't want the next Ice age to come in the next 10 years, then watch this movie, and spread the knowledge gained with your friends, children, family, employees, co-workers, whatever..
I know that I'm distributing this illegally, but I'm sure Al Gore doesn't mind, as you wouldn't have watched it otherwise anyway.

I hope this will reach as many people as possible, and that you will all spread the word, and this movie, throughout the people you know.

ye last i heard was that beer rocks to drink when ur too frozen to get some
Anyway Al gore didn't want to scare you so he didn't name a time for a next ice age directly, but if you watch the movie yourself you will find out that it's imminent. The last ice age came similarly as it's imminent now. Greenland is starting to fall apart and so is Antarctica, which will let the water level across the globe rise 20 feet. I thought people in America worried about immigrants, well.. imagine 1 billion refugees. haha funny. oh wait, it's not, since it's a very real threat, unfortunately :(
Anyways mock me all you want, and I might not be 100% accurate on everything since I just watched it once, and after all I'm still just a human.. But the core of the story is very true, and the facts presented in the movie are very real.
Now we all know the war in Irak was really about oil, and not weapons of mass destruction as Powell said it. Time to stop the oil lobby from killing even more people by fucking up the environment (the only reason that congress still hasn't made any attempts to turn this straight around is because of the oil lobby).
People reading this, people of America, can send letters to congress, or if unheard, can even run for congress. I know must Americans are pretty stupid, even though my only reason to think so is because 66% or more is suffering from fatness or Obesitas, because they're too stupid to realize macdonalds isn't healthy for you, but you'd have to be pretty thick to not see the entire picture if you have seen this movie. Then again I guess a lot of people are pretty thick, although I do think the majority of people posting here are actually smart people, despite being American.
And you all know people who know people etc, so why not? your life just might be worth it

I like oil ;/
I don't think this problem will ever get fixed until we have some great technological leap. The US is _built_ around oil, we are kinda modern in that a lot of our construction happened during and after WW2 and it has really shaped our society. Almost all shipping is done by truck, our cities are built around cars, etc.
Oh and don't worry, soon enough the EU will be just as fat (or pretty close) :)
I think the loss of farmland and overpopulation will be the big issues, not global warming or emmisions.. without a great leap those will skyrocket anyway as the world modernizes.

keboman, war didnīt used to be a big problem
People would fight each other with spears
rifles
cannons
automatic weapons
rockets
and then.. nukes
old habits didnīt change, technology did.
Itīs the same when it comes to environment, new technology in itself is great.. Look at nucleair energy... But when youīre not changing the habits and keep on polluting, itīs not that great. Your view is that way because you donīt know the actual impact thatīs going to take place. You would know that youīre wrong about what will cause mankindīs downfall if you would just see it. Itīs just a fucking movie, how much do you watch a week anyway? The world will modernize ye, when it's too late, if action is not taken. And about the loss of farmland and overpopulation, now THAT's an issue that can be countered by technology. Hi space, hi chemical farming methods. Btw the loss of land to farm on is actually caused by global warming.
I'll make a tiny comment that tips a bit of the contents.. the 10 hottest
years ever registered were in the last 14 years. The years will get hotter and hotter and people are already dying because of heatwaves. The numbers will increase and increase, but that's just an added bonus of the global warming. ofc the real issue is the loss of land to live on because everything is going to be flooded, and of course the next ice age which will come in a few years. Basically when greenland melts, which it's doing atm, we'll have an ice age.
The symptoms of greenland melting are showing already atm. There was a chunk of ice on antarctica that melted before, in just a bit over 1 month time. It started with the symptom of melting water on top of the ice. That's what's happening in greenland atm. A piece of Ice the size of an American state has been melted in a mere month, Greenland is not much bigger, but if it does, hi ice age. So ye, if you think it's not what's gonna be the end, heh..
Anyway it's a 8,3 on IMDB.com so at least see it for the entertainment value.
The whole point I'm wasting my time on this is because I want to live in 20 years, it's not just your kids, it's your life too. There's too much pussy out there for me to fuck, I can't die yet.
At least watch the trailer =)

You do know that deaths from war peaked during WW2 and have been about the lowest in history since?
The world is probably safer and more secure now than ever.
Farmland is lost through poor farming practices, erosion, and simply farming. The only reason it's not a problem is because of the green revolution. I bet farm land is running out faster than oil ;)
Athrun

I hope you know how erosion happens, now global warming will only speed it up because rainfall will be more and heavier, and draughts will come more often and be longer, and there will also be a lot more of them.
if you'd watch the trailer, at the point of where it says "this is what would happen to florida", and you see it flooding, I dunno if you can really think that it's that important that there will be less land to farm on. Africans will still be the one taking the shit, whilst with global warming the entire world will. Rich people will still get fed if there's not an abundance of food anymore.
again, i direct you to > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5429gHR7mM What do you have to lose by watching the movie?
and I'd hope we did ran out of oil, but we still have enough of it left to fuck over our planet, sadly. I live in the Netherlands and here we have buses running on WATER. It's not hard to do, it costs maybe 1,5x the amount oil costs but the huge benefit is it doesn't fucking flood the world, in a few years.
Anyway gotta spend time on my studies now, so don't hope for further discussion, spend your time downloading it :)

Global warming is old news. I hate how Al Gore releases a movie and suddenly everyone goes "OH NOES, I DIDNT KNOW TEH WORLD IS WARMING FROM ALL THE POLLUTION." Global warming has been a problem for decades, ever remember learning the three R's as a kid? Or why we were told to not use products containing CFC's in them. Global warming has been happening for years and will continue to happen.

cfk's aren't used anymore and that's something that destroys the ozon layer. It's not about the global warming issue.
And you hate him for contributing to saving the planet? Are you that sceptic that this might all be true?

I Haven't seen the film, but I'm attempting a DL right now.
Personally I think it's pretty late to aknowledge this now, but I'm certain that it's a good thing that a celebrity of some sort tries to spread the word since it seems that Americans wont care or know until that happens. Since the US stands for like one quarter of the carbon dioxide discharge in the world with about 4,5% of the worlds population it would be a good thing to try and reduce that amount an assload.

they stand for about 30%, and al gore has been an environmentalist since he's gone to college and had a specific lesson, which you will also see in the movie :)
